With DD1 I always got kicks and heels on my left side. I thought she was transverse too but turns out she was head down, butt up and feet folded up on the left. But I couldn't tell any of this except her heels sticking out of the left side of my belly.

With DD2 I feel kicking in the exact same place (left belly) but by ultrasound doctor told me she is head up by the right side of my ribs! I am really bad at knowing where anything is except feet! So who knows?! Hope you can find out at your next ultrasound!

My baby also doesn't like when I lay on my side. I try to lean back more and she'll stop kicking sometimes.
I had an ultra sound a few weeks ago and her position looked good, head down. I'm 34 weeks.

I had kicking on my left side, often when I lay on it. I always thought my baby was transverse but she was head down from a pretty early stage, at least by 30 weeks. I often second guessed it and thought she was transverse but the midwife confirmed at every appointment that she was still head down with her back on my right side.

I knew she was transverse not from kicking, but stretching. I can't remember the timing, but it was late into the third. It was obvious. My stomach took on a rectangular shape and I wasn't our typical round looking pregnant person. Oy. I ache just remembering it! She spun around for most of the pregnancy. Head down at 37, flipped around at 38.

@shopaholic: how did this turn out? This baby seems to be hanging it sideways at 32 weeks and I'm getting a little nervous. Feeling my belly she just definitely is not vertical.

My son was transverse the whole time. He's a twin so he didn't have a lot of options for moving out of that spot until big sis had exited the premises. His head was on my left side and I didn't have any problems laying that way although I always preferred laying on my right. Laying on my right was a surefire way to get him to move, though, and as a result I felt him move a lot more than DD.

@Foodnerd81: @Torchwood: @rachiecakes: That does sound more like when I was pregnant with K. I could always feel her butt wedged up against my right rib bone and her legs kick me on the left. This time it feels so different. I don't feel any butt or back yet. But I'm pretty sure his head is on my left and his feet are on my right. Can't wait till my next appointment to ask! 27 weeks now.

My baby was transverse sometime around 32 weeks if I remember right, they had me come back in at 36 weeks to see if she had turned and she had. But her movements really didn't feel much differently to me when she was down vs transverse, I guess they were a little more off to the sides. The only way I could tell was that my bump stretched out and I just looked kind of wide. When she flipped head down my stomach started looking more pointy and round.

Basically everything @Foodnerd81 said, except both of mine liked to have their back on the right, not left. I felt a ton of movement on my left side (and a lot of pushing on the top right where her butt was).

How far along are you? I always felt C kicking hardest on my right side, but up near my ribs. When I was pretty far along my midwife showed me how to feel where the baby was and I could clearly feel the big smooth part that was her back, then the bump of her little butt. So I knew she was head down, with her back towards my left side and her feet curled up and kicking me on the right. Your midwife or OB can probably tell by feeling your belly how the baby is positioned if you are far enough along.

I had that. I was feeling small movements on my far left side and big kicks on the right but I think she's moved now because I'm pretty sure I felt hiccuping low and kicks high. It's hard for me to tell because I have an anterior placenta this time. I would pay attention for the hiccups and see if that provides any clarity!

I'm 31 weeks and I feel baby movement sometimes way over on my side (I don't know if it's feet/hands/arm, though, can't tell). I have u/s very frequently for preterm labor and he is firmly head down, SUPER low and dropped down in my pelvis and has been for weeks. So, I don't think it necessarily means that baby is transverse!

I've noticed that whenever I lay on my side to sleep, the baby will kick really hard. I actually feel his feet on my right side, so if I lie on my left side (as recommended), he kicks really hard. I wonder if his head is on my left and if I'm squashing him? When I googled it, some people mentioned they had this because their babies were transverse. I haven't had an u/s since 20 weeks and not sure if this is the case.

If you had a transverse baby, how and when did you know? And did you have this issue lying on your sides?
