Another thing about th cosco is that it’s typically outgrown ff before rf due to the low height of the top slots. So barring your kiddo hasnt outgrown it via height or weight, you might get more life out of it RF

And yes to above...bring locking clips. We would have been SOL in Europe had I not brought them for our seats.

@Sweetpea87: so height should be fine. Though I would check his fit in the seat. It has a 40" limit or head one inch from the top. Kids with a tall torso will outgrow it earlier.

He’s only 35”. Fairly short, so I guess that works in our favor for this! And thanks, I didn’t know about the locking clips!

How tall is he? The next is generally outgrown by height first.

You could consider the evenflo SureRide/Titan 65 - it has the same rear facing limits as the next but lasts considerably longer forward facing. But it's tall and may not fit on small planes or small cars.

Or the graco contender can be a decent travel seat. Though a bit heavier and harder to lug.

That said, I would probably get the next (depending on height) just for the trip and buy a different seat when it's outgrown. The next is incredibly lightweight and can be installed extremely upright which means it will fit in any plane or car.

Remember to bring a locking clip, the US is the only country to require lockable seat belts, and a car may or may not have lower anchors.

We’re headed to Scotland in fall with my now-27 month-old who is 33lbs. I know the Cosco Scenera Next is the recommended travel carseat, especially for a plane. We want to get it, but do y’all think it’s worth it, when he’ll outgrow it in 7lbs? We figured after the trip, we’d put it in my husband’s car, but its FF limit is the same as RF. Is there another seat that’s almost that light and easy to install, but has higher limits? Or does the ease of the Scenera make it worth it to just buy the seat for the trip, then get another budget seat for my husband’s car? Our current seat RF to 50lbs, but I know that’s rare, so just a higher FF is fine.
