We have the Bjorn. DS probably could have fit until he was 3 because he sleeps all curled up.

We have a Journey Bee. Love it since it just pops open and is totally flat when folded.

Another bjorn vote. We also got one that was basically brand new off craigslist for a fraction of the price.

Bjorn has been great. We got it when we moved west and were traveling a lot. So even though we got it when he was 1, we have gotten tons of use out of it. Ty still sleeps in it when we travel.

@regberadaisy: we bought a pnp to leave at my parents' house to avoid having to bring it. the basic ones are pretty reasonable. is that an option?

We just have a regular pnp and its fine, but bulky and heavy. We are actually buying a new basic one for our next trip and leaving it there, because that is cheaper than checking an extra bag. Which is annoying. But still we could do that 3 times, plus the cost of our own, and come out ahead of the nicer ones.

I have friends with the lotus who really love it though.

We have the bjorn and love it. My brother has the lotus and loves it too. The lotus is smaller, so you can even carry it on. The bjorn has a thicker (comfier) mattress and is easier to set up. So it depends on your preferences. Whenever we travel by plane, we've got too much to juggle that carrying on a travel crib doesn't make sense for us. So we just check the bjorn. Both are great options though.

We've really liked our Lotus, but it's the only travel crib we've had so we have nothing to compare it to. It's a snap to set up and small enough to be a carry-on on a plane.

What does your baby sleep in when you travel?

I'm going to need something for when we visit my family. It'll be nice if its big enough to last until I feel comfortable with her sleeping in bed with me and my toddler. We do have a hand me down Graco PnP we can just bring with us. But it's so big and bulky it will take up so much precious trunk space!

Thanks
