It was so nice to have it in our trunk ready to use anytime. We also use it a lot on road trips. My daughter can just use it in the car and we don't have to worry about gross public restrooms for her! I've never used it on real toilets though - we would just build a "nest" with toilet paper and then I'd hold my daughter up. It's definitely not necessary for potty training. We kept the bags in the car but would forget the seat sometimes. Just the bags themselves were handy to have around.
