@Silva: I vote bring a double stroller. We just did Chicago with a 3.5 year old and baby, the 3.5 year old was exhausted at the airport, we had to park a mile away from the zoo, the touristy places were so busy it was nice to have a safe spot for the toddler.... and when she was out and walking the empty seat doubled as a blanket/sweater/toy holder. Also, my baby hates being worn so that wasn't an option for us.

@Silva: we've been fine with the big one riding on the nose. I hate buying stuff, and it didnt seem like the Bob geometry is great for a ride on board--was afraid of kicking it all the time like @oliviaobolivia mentioned.

@Silva: the Vista weighs more. I wouldn't want to do any amount of city or zoo walking with an umbrella.
You can get ride on boards for the Bob. I don't really like them though. My oldest wants to hop on and off all the time and I find myself kicking it the whole time. We have her on the front of our double Bob whenever she gets tired and it works well.

@Silva: it's the only stroller we have so can't really compare, but I like travelling with ours. Whenever I've used friends' cheap umbrella stroller I hate how hard they are to push and I just end up annoyed. I'd rather have my BOB, especially at the zoo and around NOLA where there could be a lot of walking.

We just flew with 4.75 yo and 14 month old. We took only single umbrella stroller. When our older needed to ride I wore the younger. But she complained a lot about all the walking and wanted to ride often. We don't own a double stroller and I wouldn't have wanted to take our vista through the airport but I'd have considered two umbrella strollers if I'd have known ahead of time how much whining I'd be facing!

@Silva: If you're flying, check on the weight restrictions of your airline for gate checking the stroller. It might make the decision for you.

Agree with @oliviaoblivia. We often use our Bob as a double with the 4 year old sitting on the nose.

I'd stick with the Bob.
If your oldest gets tired she can sit on the nose or you can wear the little one and she can have the seat.

My children are 2.5 and 9 months and I travel with an umbrella stroller. Actually at the airport lo1 gets strapped into his car seat when a dolly and I wear lo2. I check the umbrella stroller. Lo1 sits in his car seat on the plane. Most of the time lo2 gets the stroller and lo1 walks (he's a very good walker). But I can strap him in and wear lo2 when needed. But we don't even use a double in NYC around the neighborhood so there's that.

I've traveled solo three times now with Mine(2 years apart and they are 1 and 3 right now) and I just bring our g-luxe and the beco as backup if the oldest wants to ride. She likes walking and helping me out. On a few occasions, I just strap them both in together for a quick ride. If you go to the zoo, they'll probably have strollers you can rent.

What about two super cheapie umbrellas? That way each kid has a stroller if you need two (but you don't have to deal with a double if your older doesn't want to ride or you are pressed for space) . Or maybe one cheapie and one a little nicer that will get your second kid through the stroller years. I have and love the baby jogger tour. It folds so small, good recline for naps, and you can take it straight into the plane in a backpack so you have it immediately when you get off the plane (perfect for runaway toddlers)

I have a UB Vista and I would not bring it on a trip with me. It's heavy and takes up a lot of trunk space which could be problematic as you will also have all your luggage with you. I vote for an umbrella stroller.

Prepare yourselves for a series of questions like these over the next few months as I ease my anxiety about traveling through crowd sourcing and over planning.

We are flying in November with a 4 1/2 year old and a 15 month old.

Trying to decide what to do about a stroller. We will be in Atlanta, then driving to New Orleans, so it would probably be helpful to have some kind of ride available to my older child (city walking and zoo). Originally I was thinking we'd bring our single bob, and if my big kid needs a ride we could put the little in the Bob. Then I was thinking maybe I should just get a cheaper travel umbrella type stroller since it would be easier to manage in a small car/the airport than a bob

A friend who traveled with similarly aged kids said she found having a double stroller to be well worth it (but, she was traveling solo and my husband and I will both be there to wrangle as needed).

A friend offered to let us borrow her uppababy vista plus ride on board attachment which seems like it might be a really good option- my big kid is average height so I know she'd look like a giant if she decided she needed to sit....but hopefully she'd mostly just enjoy the ride on board?

Other ideas?
