We have this double umbrella stroller:

https://www.amazon.com/Kolcraft-Umbrella-Stroller-3-Point-Reclining/dp/B00STG5Z16/

And LOVE it. Each side can recline separately, which was great for our younger one who needed to nap during the day. It has decent shade, and it's very light. Obviously double umbrella strollers don't fold up as much as single, but we had no issues with this fitting in our car with all our luggage!

ETA: We also got these for extra storage on the stroller: https://www.amazon.com/Childress-Cargo-Stroller-Organizer-Black/dp/B000X2HC9W/

We just got back from a trip with our 1 and 3 year olds and we did a stroller with attachment and otherwise we forced our 3 year old to walk more than she normally would when closer to home. She ended up doing better than I expected since she can get kind of whiny when made to walk for long periods of time. Also, I always had a carrier into the stroller basket and if my 3 year old really couldn’t handle the walking and didn’t want to be on the roller attachment, the. I’d wear the 1 year old and let the older one hang out in the stroller for a bit but I would only do that for about 30-45 min at a time.

Overall I really liked the attachment option but if you’re in an area with a lot of cobblestone streets or uneven pavement that can get challenging, especially if you’re trying to back up or maneuver a tight turn. I’m those situations, I often had my older kid hop off while I repositioned the stroller and then let her back on. Kind of annoying but it all worked out.

We were in Italy last spring with 4yo and 14m kiddos, and brought one umbrella stroller (MB nano) and one carrier (tula toddler-size). It worked, but the 4yo def wanted to be in the stroller more than we would have liked, meaning we had to wear lo2 quite a bit. If you could get a 2nd umbrella stroller that fit inside of the other/hung on the handle bar so that it was out of the way, that'd prob be a good option! we decided not to bring our double with us (ub g-link) bc it had been really cumbersome for a weekend in Montreal w narrow, bumpy sidewalks

Thanks ladies! You know, it never really occurred to me to bring two "nice" umbrella strollers. By nice I mean maybe getting a 2nd 3D Lite instead of the super cheapie I had been looking at (https://www.target.com/p/cosco-umbrella-stroller-with-canopy-blue/-/A-17236219) Then I know it'll hold up well and its not really all that bigger.

ETA: Actually, I just saw this which looks very enticing: https://www.target.com/p/summer-infant-3d-mini-convenience-stroller-dusty-blue/-/A-52838020

Honestly, I would do 3 and 4. Just bring the carrier if needed for the little one while mainly using two strollers.

I have a joovy caboose for around town with my 3 and 1 year old DDs and it's great but I'd NEVER travel with it, especially in Europe where the sidewalks and streets are bumpy and narrow. And forget trying to put it in a non-SUV rental car! I would do the 2 umbrella strollers and plan for lots of breaks on days you don't feel like carting around 2 strollers if the older one wants a break. Or carry one stroller and the carrier so the older one can take a ride. Not easy at all--I totally sympathize!

We went to Paris with a two year old and four year old earlier this summer. We brought two umbrella strollers (our Uppababy Gluxe and a summer infant that we borrowed from friends). We also had a buggy board that we attached to the Uppababy--it wasn't the easiest to push, but it worked.

This combo well for getting around - we brought two strollers when we knew we would be doing a ton of walking, and only one stroller when we knew the four year old would walk or ride the buggy board. However, getting two strollers around in the airport was a pain because we had two rolling suitcases and a car seat on a roller as well. For that reason, I wish we could have gotten away with one stroller and a carrier. So for that reason, I'd go with option 4. Or maybe bring a carrier and a buggy board so you have multiple options? I found our buggy board on a yard sale site for $20, and it was definitely worth that much.

We also brought a scooter for our four year old, so maybe that could be an option for you? We didn't use it a ton, but it fit easily in the stroller bag so it wasn't any extra baggage.

So we just did 2 weeks in Europe with 3.5 yo and 10 month old and I highly recommend the 2 umbrella stroller option. We actually purchased a Joovy Caboose Ultralight and returned it when we saw how big it folds and how hard it can be to push on even the smallest hills/uneven surfaces. We already had a Uppababy G Luxe and bought a Summer Infant 3D Lite on Amazon Warehouse Deals for $50-60. It ended up working REALLY well (the 3D Lite fold more easily and is significantly lighter than the G Luxe, but I felt like it handled about as well). A tip if you're bringing rolling suitcases and need to walk to your accommodation - loop the handle of 1 suitcase over the handle of each stroller so you only have to push one thing. We figured this out about halfway into our trip and it was a game-changer.

ETA just saw you actually have a 3D lite so you know how awesome they are! I liked having both options because the G Luxe canopy covers more, but the girls wore good sunhats all the time so it really wasn't an issue.

If she doesn't want to walk she prob wants sit down vs standing on the rollerboard? No actual experience but I lean towards just getting another cheaper umbrella stroller (or see if any used one you can get locally, so you can get a nicer one)

DS1 is 4 years old and DS2 is 16 months and we're about to leave for 2 weeks in Europe. We recently got back from a week in California and discovered that our 4 year old will not walk long distances. So we need some solution for both of them for this trip. We've considered the following, but don't have anything that clearly sticks out as a winner. Looking for any experience with any of these options - good or bad

1) Joovy Caboose or similar. This seems like a fantastic option because I could see using it at home too. However, we just tried this out in store and folds up HUGE! I'm worried about it fitting in our rental car with all our luggage and just overall being too cumbersome. Also the most expensive of the options at about $100.

2) A roller board to attach to our stroller. This seems like a reasonable solution though the reviews on these don't seem to be glowing. I like that we could tuck it out of the way when not in use and it shouldn't take up too much room in the car. None of the stores near us have one in stock to try out so we'd have to order it and try it out at home/return if it doesn't work. Also unsure if it would work well with our travel stroller (Summer Infant 3D Lite) or if we'd have to bring our regular one (Britax B-Agile) which is a bit sturdier. Also kind of pricey at $70

3. Get a second cheap umbrella stroller. This is a cheap option ($20) We could just carry it when DS1 doesn't need it and it wouldn't take up too much room. Mostly worried about it actually holding up for 2 weeks of heavy use with a 38 lb kid

4. Just bring a carrier and wear DS2 when needed. This is what we did in the past when DS2 was an infant. But now he's nearly 30 lbs and we're not sure if this is feasible. It also means we'd have to interrupt stroller naps if DS1 wanted to ride. Bonus is that we have the gear already so no extra costs.
