@Sams Mom: where I’m from the leaves peak end of Sept-early October, but I am farther North - so I would say mid-October would be your best bet for Acadia if the colours are what you really want to see.

@Sams Mom: Peak fall foliage in that area is typically like the second or third week in October, give or take. But late September still has some leaves changing. I think the first or second week of of October is the best - good foliage (even if not peak), still decent weather, and if you plan on going into Bar Harbor there aren't too many people. September gets the most cruise ships in Bar Harbor so thousands of people just constantly get dumped for the day. October still gets some but not as many.

Also, should clarify warm weather. It is warm enough to be out and about during the day with some sort of light jacket. Not like summer warm. But I hate being hot, so it's my perfect weather.

I LOVE Bar Harbor and Acadia in the early fall. The colors are gorgeous, the weather is still warm during the day but cool in the evenings, and there is still a lot going on in the fall but it's not as crowded as the summer.

That said, an Alaskan cruise sounds amazing. So I don't think you can go wrong.

@Mrs. Lion: 🤣 my husband wanted to drive from the Midwest 🙄, I'm like I don't know that our child can handle that and in turn that we would enjoy the trip because of it

We did Acadia with a 6 month old and a 2 year old and it was fun :) we stayed at a lakefront Airbnb and it was really fun. It was the only slightly relaxing part of our 2 week road trip up the coast from NC :) I would not recommend a 2 week road trip 🤣😖

@charm55: I'm banking on my sister (management at a Hilton) can get me a friend's and family at a Hilton family hotel... But that can still be expensive 😬

I’ve been to Acadia National Park a few times as I live relatively close. It’s absoutely gorgeous. In the fall the colours would be outstanding, but the summer is more lively. Bar Harbor is a great little town. But the hotels can be very $$$ depending on when you go.

So my husband told me today that he wants to start saving money for a real family vacation next fall (2020). Our son will be 4 1/2 ish by then, ? if there will be another baby at that point 🤷🏼‍♀️

We're trying to decide between Acadia National Park and an Alaskan Cruise?

We went to Alaska on our honeymoon, and neither one of us have ever been to Acadia or on a cruise.

Anyone have experience with one or both? With a small human?
