Yes, they're UK passports and not US, so not exactly the same situation, but if it says 4-6 weeks and you want to travel in 7 weeks, I'd pay the expediting fee. I think there is a way to track the status on their website, so as @adira said you could always call if it was getting close and try to rush it. I believe they would also put an alert out there if for some reason it would be longer than 6 weeks. So I would say 6 weeks was fairly accurate, but it could have been a few days more so it may be safer to expedite yours... If you got a passport recently, what was the turn around time? The website says 4-6 weeks, but I'm wondering how accurate that is. </p>
