Well I don't drink anyway, alcohol or coffee, so that was easy for me. It gives me migraines. You can always say you're dieting or have been getting a lot of headaches lately. My problem was feeling like I was going to puke at all the food smells so I didn't like to go out at all with people that didn't know. I usually just said I wasn't feeling well, which people assumed was a migraine, whenever I got dinner invites.

My suggestions:
1. Get decaf if you can stomach it.
2. You're exhausted and not up to drinking.

Do they know you normally drink? Just ask as normal as possible and order water. I know I get dehydrated when I travel so that would have been my excuse if I wasn't drinking.

Yes, I dealt with this and thought it was going unnoticed until I announced my pregnancy and my group said they figured it out because I hadn't been drinking. I guess I drank too much pre-baby to hide it. haha! If they don't know you that well, just tell them you're not a coffee drinker or that you're not a big alcohol drinker and they probably won't think much of it.

@WALLAROO: My coworkers love sushi. When I get pregnant, I'll have to lie. Maybe say that I recently had sushi and it made me sick so I'm a little sushi'ed out. ;)

Can you lie and say that you are on a new medication where you can't drink?

Another situation I will have to avoid are the team sushi dinners (and I LOVE sushi). Luckily that hasn't come up on this trip yet.

I found out I was PG on January 20, and I remember on January 21 DH and I were going to a dinner party with both our bosses. It was totally out of my character to not really be drinking. I ended up telling them at the end of the night that I was PG--I knew they would be wondering why I was water only! I ended up having an SCH on Monday so I am so, so glad I ended up telling them but did not tell anyone else I worked with for about 3 weeks...and it seemed like the longest 3 weeks ever.

Not traveling on business, but we had friends over on Sunday and the wife announced that she was pregnant. She then announced that sadly, she couldn't eat our homemade ice cream because it had eggs in it. John said it looked definitely weird when she and I were the only one of the foursome not eating hot dogs or ice cream lol.

I don't drink, so everybody at work has thought for months that I'm pregnant every time I turn down a beer on Friday or a drink at a client event ;)

I am traveling for business this week and next and it has been a little challenging to keep my pregnancy a secret. Our team goes out for team dinners and I have had to come up with an excuse for why I'm not having a glass of red wine with dinner or getting a cup of coffee in the morning with everyone. Luckily nobody really knows me on this team to know any better so they are believing my excuses :). Has anybody else had to deal with this in the first tri when you were still keeping it a secret?
