@Bluebonnet: The last 3 beach vacations we took DD1 on she took ALL her naps in the stroller! She didn't nap once in the hotel. Haha! So I guess I'm hoping for the same this time. It's just that the double is SO BIG.

@dolphin: yup! We used it in the airport and gate checked it no problem. I didn't think it was anymore hassle then using our britax b-ready, which is normally what we travel with.

Are you hoping the kids nap in the stroller every day (vs having naptime in the hotel)?

I would bring a single stroller, but I've never tried to get our kids to nap in the stroller. Our last 2 vacations to the beach we hardly used our stroller (other than in the airport).

I admit that I babywear and rarely use our double, but if you think you will get naps with a stroller, that is worth the small inconvenience of dragging it through security. And I don't see how it would be a hassle other than that. I'd rather be slightly more inconvenienced on a day that will be a hassle anyway and then have lovely, relaxing vacation days.

Please don't do this to yourselves! Bring a small umbrella stroller and babywear. Double jogging strollers are so huge and bulky-- the hassle is not worth the (potential) benefit.

We traveled to Disney with our double BOB. I was super nervous, but it was fine. It wasn't too big to go down the walkway and it didn't get ruined on the ride.

Check with your airline, they might have posted limits on stroller weight.

@lamariniere: Mainly the pool and beach but every vacation we've been on with DD1 she's always fallen asleep in the stroller. I think the sun gets her extra tired so it's nice when she falls asleep in the stroller and DH and I can relax! So with my initial plan, if DD1 is using the stroller I would have to wear DD2 which is fine too, but trying to think ahead if there are situations where a double stroller would make my life easier!

What kinds of activities will you be doing? I've never really needed a stroller for beachy vacations. Since your older LO is already 3.5, I would probably skip the double and go with your initial plan.

@avivoca: @Truth Bombs: A double umbrella is probably ideal but I was hoping not to spend the extra money IF we could get away with the jogging one. Plus, DD1 is already 3.5 and I wasn't sure how much longer she will need a stroller so holding off on buying an umbrella double unless it's really worth it!

Yeah I would not want to travel with a double jogger. I just bought the UppaBaby Glink because I wanted a double Umbrella for travel. Even just for road trips, because my double City Mini GT takes up my whole trunk!

Could you get a double umbrella stroller? Jogging strollers are so bulky and I wouldn't want to risk getting my stroller super banged up.

We're traveling to the Bahamas and this will be our first vacation with two kids! I had planned to bring our stroller with a toddler standing board attached to it and Ergo baby carrier. DD1 is 3.5 and still likes to sit in a stroller and DD2 is 10 months. I figure if DD1 wants to sit in the stroller I can wear DD2. But then now I'm thinking it would be kind of nice if both of them can sleep in the stroller at the same time (I can hope!). The double stroller we have is this jogging stroller:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/InStep-Safari-Double-Jogging-Stroller-Red/13264735

Is this too big and bulky for the airport? Have you traveled with something similar? Or do you think we should look into buying another double stroller? Or skip the double stroller and stick with my original plan??
