I'm not going to talk you out of it, I think this sounds like a great idea, especially since everyone gets along!

We've traveled both with my dad and my ILs with our LOs. I would much rather travel with my dad :silly: .

Heh, my parents took us to Jamaica one year....promised to give us space and let us do our own thing. Needless to say, they would show up at dinner just to take photos, come up to us randomly around the resort, tried to make us have timelines, and hollered at us from the balconies. We never felt like we were alone or had space, it was awful and so stressful! They would just show up at our door. Not romantic

So I can only play devils advocate from the perspective of it having been a shit show for us LOL

Only devil's advocate I can think of is your mom will get charged a higher room rate for sailing solo - so maybe your dad could come too or you could say one of your lo's is staying in her room. I'd do it with my parents or my mil in a heartbeat!

I think this sounds like an awesome idea! I would definitely invite my mom along, and she would love to come. She would love to give us a break and let us have some time. It always good to have an extra set of hands around too. Plus, she loves spending time with my daughter. Win, win all around.

I would do it with my mom too. As long as she would be ok with watching the kids a couple nights and I would probably go out with just her one night and leave DH in charge too!

Sorry - can't play Devils advocate because I agree it's a great idea! My parents are coming to Disney world next year when we take LO. It will be great to get a little break so Dh and I can go on rides ourselves, or go out to dinner alone once or twice.... We get along really well with them and I know they will give us family space and do their own thing occasionally too so I'm not at all worried !

We are considering going on a cruise this summer with our 2 kids who are under age 6, if we can find a good deal. We thought about paying for my mom to go along. She has never gone on a cruise but it is not my dad's thing so we think she would love to go. We thought it would be good to have someone to stay with the kids while we went out after bedtime. We wouldn't do that every night. We get along great with her, the kids love her, we have traveled with her before so it should go well. We would also get her her own cabin.
Let's play devils advocate and tell me the reasons why this is not a good idea.
