@Pumpkin Pie: they didn't take a culture. They diagnosed him based on how he was breathing, listening to his lungs, etc. He will only have milk and water occasionally too. He's not eating. They said that he should start feeling better within a day of starting antibiotics. I hope so.

@Pumpkin Pie: yes. That's exactly what will help
Along with a cool mist humidifier and taking lo out in the cold air if any breathing issues start acting up. Did the dr says what type of respiratory infection it is? On Antibiotics? The albuterol will open the airway which will definitely make lo feel better!

I took my 15 month old to the dr today. He had a cough first and then came the fever and congestion. It turns out it was an ear infection and pneumonia. He's on amoxicillin.

Most respiratory issues are viral, so there isn't much they can do, unfortunately. If she isn't improving at all by Monday, I'd at least call again and discuss any other options.. Our LO also never eats much when sick, just keep her hydrated, she'll eat when she feels better. Last year we were almost force feeding E milkshakes just to get calories in him during a respiratory infection. He was sick for almost two weeks.

My 15 month has been battling a respiratory infection since Sunday, and she's hardly eaten anything at all. We keep her hydrated with water and milk as much as possible, but she won't take anything else. The doctor told us to just keep giving her albuterol and flovent, and that we just need to wait it out.

Just checking to see if this is actually the only solution, or should I be asking the doctor to try a different remedy?
