@LindsayInNY: I haven't tried it, but I would think so, though I don't know if the chocolate would crack. They are already slices, so I would think the 1 year olds could just gum them.

@anniefannie: I've never heard of birthday daycare treats until Hb. It's definitely not a thing here, so depending on your area you might not have to worry about it !

@anniefannie: I also thought about pouches since they can either be fed or self-squeezed. And are healthier!

@LindsayInNY: yeah, i thought about bringing in extra puffs. Because puffs are awesome and all the babies who are able eat puffs seem to LOVE puffs. right?

LO is the oldest in his room as of yesterday and isn't moving up for a few more weeks. So hes hanging with the youngins for his birthday.

@anniefannie: That's sorta my issue too with the age. DD is the youngest in her new room and she'll be 1 at the end of the month. I don't know what all of their eating capabilities are quite yet. With a younger room, what about yogurt melts, puffs, teething crackers/biscuits?

Do most parents bring in snacks for birthdays? My guy is 1 next week and I hadn't even thought that I would have to bring something in. Is there an alternative to snacks that I can bring? Some of the babies in his room are still really young...

I sent mini cupcakes for his classroom and staff. When my big LO turns 4, I'm going to make sure to send enough cupcakes or other treat for staff as well. They really appreciate it.

@LindsayInNY: For a recent preschool birthday, a parent brought chocolate-dipped frozen banana bites from Trader Joe's. I thought that was a nice idea for something different.

@erinbaderin: if you strain Greek yogurt overnight with cheesecloth, it drains a ton of the liquid out. It takes on more of A frosting consistency. I would add some honey for sweetener. My daycare has gotten strict about cupcakes so even my "healthy" cupcakes are a no now. Which I appreciate and am okay with!

You could make muffins a bit more special by making them into "cupcakes" - we ice muffins with Green vanilla yogurt and then top them with berries and tell our son it's cake.

Yogurt Melts. OMG they are like crack for babies.

Pouches or even just fresh fruit would be great. I know most daycares dont serve fresh fruit consistently.

Whole wheat fruit or veggie muffins with cream cheese "frosting"- looks festive like cupcakes, but good for you. I give them to DD (2.5) who *has* had sweets before and she thinks they are desserts.
