@locavore_mama: I'm still in love with that thing ... I'm wondering if a pillow on the seat to push her closet will help.

DH's leaning towards a trike since there's more grass and dirt roads around where we usually take walks. We're looking at a Radio Flyer Classic with push handle.

We have one similar to this. At 22 months he can reach the pedals and is learning to work them. The handle is nice because you can push slowly and it helps him to keep his feet going. The wheels are plastic but with a rubber coating, we've been using it as a stroller for walks around the neighborhood 3-4 x per week since he was one and they are holding up very well.

Our kids each have this one.
http://www.radioflyer.com/grow-n-go-flyer.html

They are just slightly too short to reach the pedals at 20 months, but they scoot around on it and love it anyway. I like that it's low to the ground and they can get on and off themselves.

Eta, wheels are plastic.

So, the foot rests were what she used last summer when she was 12 months old. I'm pretty sure she will be able to reach the big pedals this year and we'll remove the foot rests.

@winniebee: I love the Joovy!!!
From Amazon's description about the wheels: The Joovy Tricycoo is first class all the way - unlike most tricycles with blow-molded wheels, the Tricycoo sports injection-molded wheels with urethane treads.

@sugarplumsmom: the micro mini scooters are awesome - DD is always borrowing them at the park. If you get the Obar/seat set, it also functions as a little push bike, so maybe you could skip the trike and kill two birds with one stone!

We love our Joovy Tricycoo! LO got it for her 1st birthday. At that point we just pushed her around with her feet on the stationary pedals; at nearly 21 months she's making some effort at using it as a push-bike. It will easily last her another year or two as she learns to pedal since the parent handlebar and baby harness part are removable. I think it retails around $100 and comes in a few colours.

It looks like we're not getting the roadster (although I kind of fell in love with it). But in case any US bees are interested, it's $63 at Sams Club.

DD's 2nd birthday is coming up in a few months and my mom just asked what she should get her. I'm also leaning towards a tricylce or a mini micro scooter.

We went to the toys store yesterday to see which one she'd be more interested in (they have only 2 models) but it looks like she's leaning towards a tricyle.

Here's what I found so far (with great reviews):
[attach=1448/14/n2zhsv.600x600.roadster.jpg]
Schwinn Roadster 12" Retro Tricycle
+ It's chrome, rubber wheels, very well built.
+ Will not tip over.
+ Looks cool!
- I just read that there's a mistake on the box and the minimum height requirement is 38" (96 cm), so it's more for a 3 yr old.
[attach=1448/14/n2zhsx.600x522.tricyclegalt.jpg]
Galt By Winther Tricycle with Tray
+ Sturdy
+ Should be easier to pedal since it's less of a recline position
+ Free shipping (Amazon UK)
+ Tray for toys and rocks.
- Not as cool looking (hehe).
- Wheels aren't as versatile in all terrain (as air-filled rubber wheels) *debatable

I'd link a classic Radio Flyer, but those are much more expensive (+ shipping) where I'm at.

@sweet_p: We have this one, too! At 20 months, C still gets pushed in it (I think she has stumpy legs like her mom and dad) because she can't pedal yet. We're at that weird in-between stage when her legs are barrrrely long enough to rest of the pedals, so they end up dragging on the ground a lot!
