@bloved: I just had an IUI and am having the same issue with my temps. Was curious if your IUI worked or if you found out if the low temps were normal?

@merryc - thanks for the reply! I wound up caving and testing with an OPK at days 2 and 6. On Day 6 it was not positive, so I have to imagine that if I get a positive later, it will be the "real thing".
The shot did seem to mess up my temps though...Usually I am a high 96/low 97 pre-o, and then high 97 to high 98 post o. I have not temped consistently since the show, but I am only getting in the mid-high 97s. I don't know why my temps are not going up. Even if the shot didn't work, I should have ovulated naturally after the fact (I would think). I guess I will just be playing the waiting game and see for sure this week!

Sorry I'm kind of late to the party, but....

1. You can take cheap pg tests in the days after the trigger to see how long it takes for the line to disappear. When I did this, the hcg only showed up on a pg test for like 2-3 days after the trigger. But I've read that other women have had it stay detectable for like a week or so. The 'real' hcg shouldn't be detectable for at least a week after your IUI, so you could take a test now and see if you still have a line or not. If you don't, feel free to test away :) And I totally know what you mean about lining up all the tests on the bathroom counter!

2. I don't think the trigger shot itself should change your chart. I took progesterone after my IUIs, so that would raise and sustain my temperature, but I don't think the hcg alone would affect much.

And most importantly, GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for the reply ladies. I think I am going to try to avoid testing and just wait it out for the blood work. I know I am going to be reeeeally tempted to test, but I can get a tad *ehem* obsessive during the tww, so I can just imagine having my sink lined up with tests and trying to compare each...but that's good to know that it should be out of my system theoretically before af comes...

i did get a trigger shot a few months ago. and i took the test before any bloodwork, but got my BFN and my period before my next doctor's appointment. i think you can start testing after 7 days.

my temperatures did not change much. same as usual, like i had an ovulation. that's all the trigger shot is - hcg to get you to ovulate.

I can't answer the temping question since I never charted. But for your first question, yes, you will get a positive pregnancy test if you test now. They say it takes about 10 days for it to be out of your system but some women have tested it out and it was out sooner than that.

The tww is tough! I didn't wait for the blood work and tested every day from 9dpiui until the day of my blood test. But I'm just impatient like that. Dollar store tests save a lot of money. =)

Hi Ladies,
My doctor gave me a trigger shot yesterday and followed up with an iui today. This is my first time doing it so a couple questions for those of you that have experience:
1. I read online that you will get a positive pregnancy test due to the hormone. How did you handle this? Did you "test it out" or just wait for bloodwork to confirm?
2. I usually temp... does anyone know if the shot affects temping? Meaning, since I have the hormone, will I also have corresponding high temps regardless of what my body is really doing?

Thanks for any feedback! Just trying to figure out how best to survive the tortuous tww!!
