@gotkimchi: Yes that’s great! Beer the park and the zoo and the art museum and wash u (fun to walk on campus) and an area called the central west end with shops and good restaurants. The Chase? Or which hotel are you looking at?

@gotkimchi: Hi! Of course. It depends what you want. You could stay downtown (google ballpark Hilton) or in midtown in an artsy new hotel called the Angad. I am actually booking that one for a staycation in October for me and DW! Or Brentwood or CLAYTON to be pretty centrally located. Assuming you’ll have a car, you can almost anywhere in the city in less than 30 minutes. Things my 3 year old loves:
The zoo
The art museum
The science center
(All or those are free)
The Magic house
myseum
urban fort
Transportation museum
Turtle park
Botanical gardens kids garden
Butterfly house and carousel
Apple and pumpkin picking plus rides and games at Eckert’s fun farm
It’s also an excellent food town! And craft beer and cocktails. Feel free to reach out about anything!

We’re in Wisconsin too and we’re heading to MI in a few weeks, to enjoy the dunes and the lake. I also have St. Louis on my list, I’ve heard it’s AMAZING for kids. We’ve also had a lot of fun doing quick weekends away in Madison, Chicago, Milwaukee, Twin Cities, Dells, Door County, Hayward, Kohler/Elkhart Lake. Oh yeah and I’ve always wanted to do a weekend at Kinickanick (sp?) Farm in Caledonia. One of the bees did a great review once!

@gotkimchi: I live in St Louis and it’s one of the BEST cities for children! When we go out of town we are actually disappointed with the options. Here we have at least 20 Free or low cost things to do with kids. If you end up interested, I’ll PM you my recommendations!

Omaha is a great place if you've never been. The Henry Doorly Zoo is a must see, seriously incredible. You could spend 2 days there honestly, but if not there are several other things to do too to fill up a few days.

Where in Wisconsin are you? Depending on what sort of vacation you want, there are tons of places to go in Minnesota. I mean, they have 10,000 lakes. :) But Minneapolis can be fun for a few days. And I'm sure you know all of the fun Wisconsin places but we used to go to Door County every summer and I loved it.

@gotkimchi: i don’t know if it’s really 6-8 hours but traverse city area is awesome! We used to go to Glen Arbor and it’s a cute little town right near sleeping bear sand dunes. Hiking, gorgeous lakeshore, cute little towns, wineries, etc. It’s a hidden gem! There might be a ferry across Lake Michigan somewhere?? Not sure if I’m imagining that.

ETA not imagining it! Milwaukee to Muskegon fast car ferry. Not sure how expensive

@gotkimchi: In STL, there’s also a Magic House (more science-y for kids), and a science center. The Botanical Gardens are really pretty too. I grew up in Missouri, so we would occasionally go to St. Louis to explore. I remember it being a lot of fun as a kid. For Traverse City, granted, I was there maybe 12 years ago, there are a lot of wineries and a big national park nearby, beaches and outdoorsy stuff to do.

I had suggested St. Louis and my husband thought it might be boring. Thoughts? I thought with the arch, zoo, and museum it would keep us busy

ETA - what’s in traverse city mi? I’m familiar with Detroit and Frankenmuth

We actually live in Wisconsin but I figure Chicago is more we’ll known! Any suggestions for a trip we can take with a 2 and 4yo? We’re thinking to drive, somewhere within 6-8 hours. Any suggestions for a spot that is awesome for kids and adults?
