@peaches1038: It gets cold at night. We're bringing a Mr. Buddy heater with us just in case it gets too cold. Otherwise we'll just bundle up.

What do the temps get down to at night there? We are taking our 2.5 yo camping in a month and the thing I’m most worried about is keeping him warm at night. I’m planning on bringing a little beanie, fleece jammies and a fleece halo sleep sack for walkers as well as wool socks. He doesn’t use a sleep sack at home, but I really want to make sure he’s warm enough. He will probably be tucked in with me, but he rolls around so much and I do t want him to freeze if rolls out! Otherwise we are bringing some trucks and shovels, baby wipes and lots of extra clothes and will see how it goes! Have fun!

@KT326: Glow sticks is a great Idea! I know we have to pretty much lock everything up, but I never would have thought of the wipes since they don't really smell to me so Thanks for that!!!

@birdofafeather: Thanks! I'll take a look at the article! I'm going to check our sound machine when I get home to see if it'll take batteries. If not then I will definitely use our phone.

I remember the last time I was there, they had this car all torn up on display to show a bear getting in for a stick of gum and I'm a little paranoid now LOL. I'll have to make sure I vacuum the car really well since i'm sure theres fruit loops and Cheerios somewhere. I also remember when I was little brushing my teeth extra hard because I was afraid the bears would smell food in my teeth HAHAHA!

we love yosemite! i've been going since i was an infant and we've brought our daughters every year as well. i did a little write up for camping with infants and toddlers on a friend's website a few years ago: http://thekindredstreet.com/2014/06/camping-tips-camping-toddlers/

my kids never fell asleep before sundown, so we just planned on that. we downloaded a white noise app on our phones (put it on airplane mode to conserve battery) and played that all night!

Glow necklaces! They are great if he stays up later when it starts to get dark.

A camp chair his size.

We got a folding cot for our son to sleep in (although he usually ends up cuddled up with me by morning).

Baby wipes. Great for a wipe down before bed if you don't have a shower close by. (But make sure they go in the bear locker at night! Don't keep anything scented in your tent.)

Hot wheels. They are perfect for playing in the dirt and cheap if you don't already have some. My son loves to make race tracks.

With a three year old I don't think you need too much extra stuff. Just whatever you would normally bring camping.

Also, be prepared for sleep to be off. It is hard for us because tents don't have blackout shades! So bedtime is always later than at home and wake up time is earlier. Naps were always in the stroller while doing laps around the campground...

We're taking a trip to Yosemite at the end of June with family and It's our first camping trip with DS. Our family gos every two years and we decided to give it a try.
I used to go all the time with my family but haven't gone in the last 10 yrs and my husband has never been.

I guess I'm a little nervous and a little lost at what I need/don't need with having a LO. We haven't done any camping since having him and very few overnight stays places.

Anyone have any advice or suggestions?

The three of us will have our own big tent to sleep in and the trip is 4 nights. DS is used to sleeping in a dark room by himself with white noise.
