@wonderstruck: I was thinking more about it last night, I think maybe I didbt loosen both straps all the way before pulling them tight again. I did it in the right order but Not loosened that would cause the problem, right

Huh, weird - the Next for his been SO easy for me to install using latch. Did you loosen before latching it, then pull as hard as you could on the strap labelled 1, and the as hard as you can on the strap labelled 2? If you do them in the wrong order it won't get tight enough.

@rrachael: Yeah I feel like it was definitely user error, but for the life of me I can't figure out what. I can't find anything online indicating it was a problem with that car and seat so I am sure I screwed it up.

We've had the next fit for about a year now and I had no trouble installing it in our cars or rental cars. Then, last month, it took my dad and me twenty minutes to get it into his Camry. It seemed to be an issue with tightening the latches too much on one side. We figured it out but it was definitely frustrating! That said, it was the one and only time I had trouble. Overall we've been really happy with it!

We test drove a few cars this weekend, and while I am used to the seatbelt install for our Chicco Nextfit in our current car, I was excited to use LATCH in the new cars, since it's so easy. I had no problem with most of them, but when trying to install in an Acura RDX I could not get it tight. It fit fine rearfacing, but was so loose.

Anyone else encounter this? Trying to figure out if it just doesn't fit, or I was doing something wrong? It was pulled as tight as I could. It's one of our top choices for cars, but not if I can't install the car seat with LATCH.
