I had seen those pics of the hallway birth and was terrified that would be me :silly: My husband has no medical training, though.</p> <p>So glad everyone is okay! She is beautiful! </p> https://boards.hellobee.com/topic/true-life-i-gave-birth-in-the-hallway-at-the-hospital#post-2820181 Thu, 03 May 2018 19:04:12 +0000 birdofafeather 2820181@https://boards.hellobee.com/ <p>@trixi: i was worried about it too... and here i am! i guess my other worst case scenario was delivered accidentally at home alone with DH working and the older two girls awake!</p> <p>@periwinklebee: i'm sure i am a part of their story now too! 😂but yes, the speed in which i transitioned was insane! i had no clue my body could do that, but i guess my water breaking is what really does things for me!</p> <p>@codeitall: no #4!! but DH said in the hospital, well, if we had a 4th, we'd definitely just be prepped for a home birth! and i reminded him, NO NUMBER 4!! </p> <p>@irene: i don't think anyone could have done anything faster honestly! i was walking down a thoroughfare type hallway, so there are only random offices down it, like admissions and physical therapy. i knew this thankfully, so that's why i started yelling! otherwise, i knew no one would happen upon me! and i think the ER nurses that got us were just thinking they had time to get me upstairs to l&amp;d before the baby came. REALLY grateful to DH who knew i wouldn't be stopping in the middle of the hallway unless it was urgent! but, yes, both my other two births were med-free (by my choice!) so i was mentally prepared to deal! but the speed was a whirlwind, so i actually took about 20-30 minutes after she was born to deliver the placenta, get a stitch and take a breath before i held her. taking that time without her on me allowed me to kinda work through it in my head and so when i was ready, i could actually focus on her! with my second, i wasn't mentally prepared for the speed and it felt a bit more traumatic (if you can believe it!) so i felt like it took longer for me to bond with her.</p> <p>@psw27: i can't see their faces, but i can picture it so clearly because it's this SUPER long hallway and they were the only ones in it in either direction and they were probably 4 feet from me when i stopped and pulled down my underwear! i can't even imagine what they thought!! </p> <p>@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: it's his first delivery! he's always wanted to catch one of our kids, but i don't think we imagined it quite like that!</p> <p>@Sams Mom: he said he just sprung into action and didn't really have time to think about how crazy it was. and that when he saw the nuchal cord, he was like, oh, i know what to do! glad that training has been good for something! :silly: </p> <p>@Iced Tea: ha! my OB was like, oh anyone can deliver the baby, it's that placenta that really counts! :silly: and DH's captain said, don't let the doc take credit for your catch on the birth certificate! but it does say attending physician so i think the liability still falls on the OB. 😂</p> <p>@MrsADS: i *think* that if my OB hadn't given us that 3 pm time to come to his office, we would have gone to the hospital ourselves before... but who knows! i also could have just been at home with DH and the same thing could have happened. and we live 3 blocks on the other side of the hospital!! my body just does weird stuff and i don't listen until it's too late i guess!`</p> <p>@MrsMom: yes, he said that he didn't remember me screaming when i was pushing (i was VERY vocal with our other two!) and i said it was because i was concentrating on his voice!</p> <p>@gestalt: if it didn't happen to me, i don't know if i would have believed it! but i saw these photos earlier this year and had it running through my mind when i stopped in first hallway!</p> <p><a href="http://people.com/human-interest/hospital-hallway-birth/" rel="nofollow">http://people.com/human-interest/hospital-hallway-birth/</a></p> <p>SO glad i didn't have an extra person there to photograph it! 😳and i'm a photographer. but i don't know that i need to see that part! and my photos would have been NSFW. and thankfully my recovery has been amazing! </p> <p>@Nutella: i'm glad i recognized it in the moment (as in i was like oh SH$T, this is gonna happen fast!) but i didn't realize how urgent it was!! </p> https://boards.hellobee.com/topic/true-life-i-gave-birth-in-the-hallway-at-the-hospital#post-2820169 Thu, 03 May 2018 18:02:01 +0000 Nutella 2820169@https://boards.hellobee.com/ <p>I also got goosebumps reading this!
