@sorrycharlie: @coopsmama: @.twist.: @mrs. bird: @Synchronicity: I do agree with you, actually. And am grateful for the bumps and kind words this thread got. But, I am disappointed that Mr Bee did not respond to my question, as though it were not valid or important enough to justify a response. I do agree with your sentiments about not sticking every fundraising thread, for sure.

@mrs. bird: @.twist.: You guys said what I've been thinking so very well. Exactly! If this thread were stickied it would set a precedent that would be hard to keep up with. I think it's best to only sticky crowd funding posts for longstanding HB members in tough situations.

@mrs. bird: I was honestly going to make a thread myself if one hadn't been made. We see a lot of news coverage for American news (obviously, it's an American site) but not as much Canadian. I was really touched to hear that a lot of American bees were even interested in donating, because it seriously is such a tragedy!

@mrs. bird: They would seriously have to sticky every, single, fund people wanted them to. I feel like it's very obvious that every fund situation we have had on the hive has been for a community member going through a tragedy. Not to say this isn't a tragedy, but this community isn't the only help these people will get, their story is all over the news and that isn't true for our community members and their tragedies. I feel like the thread in and of itself is appropriate enough.

@travelgirl1: thanks for posting!

the fund is obviously legit, but there are so frequently scams that use tragic events or fake illnesses for a profit, it would be really hard for a site like HB to be able to verify the legitimacy of every crowdfunding request and i'm sure they would feel awful if they were to encourage HB members to give to a fund that ended up not being on the up and up. it's one thing when the recipient is a long time member of the community and the organizer is as well, but i can see how it could get out of hand and overwhelming if more and more requests for crowdfunding were coming in.

@travelgirl1: Not sure how Canada works, but doesn't his family receive a large sum for his service? At least in America, losing your life in the line of service is a 2M payment for officers' families, to help with all the expenses and such....

@sslm: I agree with being disappointed about the thread not being stickyed. @mrbee: I know you said you will post a crowd funding policy soon, but it would be helpful to know what the reason was in this particular case. Because it's not a HB member who needs the money? I'm genuinely not trying to be snarky here, but it's a Sunday, traffic will be slow and the post could get lost very, very easily.

@travelgirl1: thanks for posting. I hope lots of people give!!! This is extremely close to my heart.

I've seen many other threads asking for help for hellobee members who've been in horrible situations and I applauded the stickying of these threads.

I'm sad to learn that this particular case is not allowed to be stickied. This situation has touched too close to home for me and maybe I'm taking things too personally but this is the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak. I won't be returning to hellobee. If anyone wants to keep in touch just wall me and I'll send my email.
