I'm so sorry for your loss  After my D&C at 9 weeks I used OPKs and we were trying before my first period. I never got a positive OPK, though. I got my period and started ovulating regularly after that. We conceived on the 2nd cycle after my D&C, but lost that one at 5 weeks. 6 LONG cycles after that we conceived DS. I don't think it typically takes that long for people, at least from the tons of message boards I read.... Wishing things happen quickly for you!! Good luck!

I'm so sorry - i had a D&C and my doctor told me i could try as soon as i felt ready. I waited for my period anyway, and didn't conceive that cycle but i conceived my son the cycle after! I hear a lot of stories of conceiving soon after a mc, so i hope that is the case for you as well.

@Mrs. Champagne: If it helps, I had a D&C and my doctor said we could try again as soon as my period came back. I can't even have any sex for most of this 'cycle' because of chance of infection, so I'm guess my first cycle back trying will be around mid-September.

Sorry for your loss.

With my first mc the doctor I seen at the time told me to wait at least 3 normal cycles but I was very impatient so after my first cycle we try again and conceived my son. That was only 6 weeks after my mc. Good luck it is very possible to have a very healthy pregnancy after a loss

First of all I'm so sorry for your loss :crying:

Secondly, shes not a close enough friend to get the full details from, but a woman I know had a miscarriage, wanted to wait the one cycle, but ended up accidently pregnant on her next cycle. I know she was initially concerned, but she had a fairly easy pregnancy and her daughter was born the same day as mine

I'm not a doctor but I would probably feel more comfortable waiting one cycle since your body may have expelled more lining from the misoprostal. I know how much it sucks to wait after a loss and you are just ready to be out of this stage. I waited the one month and got pregnant the next with my son. I bet you won't be waiting long at all. Again, so sorry for your loss.

@simplyfelicity: I took misoprostal to speed along the inevitable. So I think that's more similar to a natural miscarriage, but I'm not sure.

@Mrs. Champagne: My OB also said to wait a cycle & then we were good to try again. But in my foggy haze, didn't think to ask why exactly. But I think I echo @MrsKoala when I think I'll just wait out a whole cycle before getting back on the TTC. But I don't think I'm emotionally quite ready to try anyway...everyone is pretty different I think.

I think it makes a difference whether or not you had,a D&C vs natural miscarriage. With a D&C, it's possible to have lining too thin for implantation. My OB suggested waiting three cycles but we waited til after my first natural AF after lots of research. I had a D&C, though.

The first time the doctor said to wait but only cited emotional reasons. The second time we were told to wait an extra couple cycles, because I had had two in such quick succession. I was like you, wanted to start right away, so we always started as quickly as we were allowed. I personally wouldn't wait in your shoes, though I can't say if it's medically wise.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

I got pregnant the month after my second D&C, before my period came back, and it resulted in a CP. When I talked to my doc about it, he encouraged me to give my body a little bit of time to heal. We took the next month off, and then got pregnant with my now 4 week old daughter the next month.

@Mrs. Champagne: my friend just delivered her baby that was conceived immediately following her MC. Their due dates were exactly 2mos apart. I'm starting CD 1 after my ectopic and we are trying again. I couldn't pinpoint O while waiting for my period to return or I would have tried harder.
Good luck! :goodluck:

My ob was ok with us trying right away, if we felt emotionally ready, which we did. According to her, waiting the one cycle is really just to make dating easier. We did end up getting pregnant before my period returned (about 10 weeks after my MC). We would have considered waiting once cycle had my period returned earlier. Best of luck and hoping you get your rainbow baby soon!

Yep, my doctor just advised not to start trying until my beta levels were all the way down (ectopic). I must have ovulated within a few days of the 0 beta so I never got a period. I've heard of some doctors saying to wait a cycle in between, but mine didn't so I didn't see any reason not to try to catch the next egg.

My doctor was also fine with us trying right away, before I got my first post m/c period. I did start trying right away, because I felt like I needed to DO something, instead of more waiting. I didn't end up getting pregnant that cycle anyway, but it felt good to focus on something new rather than dwelling on not being pregnant.

ETA that there is no medical evidence (I asked my OB and did my own research) that getting pregnant before getting your first period post m/c increases your chances of m/c again at all.

I'm sorry you had to go through that.

My doctor said the main reason most doctors suggest waiting is for mental health, not physical health. Your body is unlikely to allow itself to get pregnant if you're not physically recovered.

I started after my first period (and he was right, it WAS super emotional!). But just a warning, it took 4-6 months before my cycles were very regular, so try to keep that in mind. My hormones were WAY out of whack.
