@Silva: not out of line at all. It can be very helpful to share ones own experiences. I probably could use counseling at some point for support in a myriad of areas but at this point I dont feel that I've quite reached that point in my anxiety. Talk to me in a few weeks but for now the stress and challenge of trying to work that into my life and schedule outweighs the need. I do belong to some good support groups for moms with children with sensory issues. Its actually looking like my sons stuff may be very slight and managable or even fully treatable through early intervention therapy which thrills me. The tuna thing was a response to an article I had read regarding heavy metals and sensory issues but I have since made my peace with that and chosen not to worry. If my anxiety starts to keep me up at night or harm my marriage or interfere with my ability to parent or function normally I will absolutely consider outside help.

@MrsMccarthy: I don't mean to comment out of place, as we don't know each other well and this advice might be better received from a close friend, but have you considered seeing a counselor? I struggled with ante partum anxiety and found counseling to be extremely helpful. I still worried, but was able to say to myself "this is just my worry/anxiety," and found it much easier to manage.
I just recall that you were expressing concerns on a previous thread (maybe the tuna one?) about somehow being at fault for your son's sensory issues because of some mistake during pregnancy, and that is a heavy load to carry (and not one that you should carry!)
Anyway, I really recommend counseling, even every other week if scheduling is difficult- you want to be able to enjoy your pregnancy as much as possible, not be consumed by guilt and worry!

@MrsMccarthy: thanks, lady! I'm anxiously awaiting yet another beta result after a scare with bleeding yesterday morning. I am sure I look neurotic, too... So be it. I can't just be patient & wait it out when there are a few tools to give me a glimpse at how our little bean might be doing in there.

Eta: whew!! Another good beta result, so maybe my short bout of bleeding wasn't a sign of pending m/c after all.

@MrsMccarthy: I hope you get better quickly... It isn't fun to be sick, anyway, let alone while pregnant. I don't think you were irrational to worry, either. There's a lot to think about these days--I almost envy the generations before us who didn't know all the potential harms out there to our unborn children. Hang in there!

@MsMini: I will admit that I am definitely neurotic but to be honest I don't feel like I am at that point yet. I post on here when I'm having anxiety so it might color me more so than I "normally" am. Im always open to it though if it were to become something that interfered with my life in a bigger way.

@cascademom: that's something I will definitely look into.

Still feeling pretty sick over here and more vomiting but I'm trying to relax, drink liquids and get through it.

Do you think you might benefit from talking to a professional about your pregnancy related anxiety? You really seem to have an abnormally high level of anxiety regarding your pregnancy. Quite often this can feed into PPD/PPA post partum ...

I'm sorry you are stressing. I'm sure you are ok but I understand being anxious.
If it helps, my doctor specifically told me that I could eat all of those things and the risk is so very slim. You can't avoid all risk completely. That's living. He said the only things I should avoid are: Smoking, drinking, too much caffeine, limit my deep sea fish and sushi. Period. I even read an article about how women are actually not get a well rounded diet during pregnancy anymore because they avoid so many foods. Do what you think feels right but you know.... it's all a risk. You know that there is the risk of a car accident while driving but you still drive.

@Aimed: aww you are sweet! Thank you!

Just spoke to the nurse, she doesn't seem overly worried but she is running it all by the doctor and will call me back. In the interim she said I need to take it easy, eat bland food and might want to consider some over the counter miralax and some tums in case it's bad gas or constipation. And staying hydrated very important, she also said I could have something not agreeing with me, unlikely listeria but there are other small things that might be making its way through my system. And other worst case would be a UTI. Waiting to hear back.

Thank you all for taking time out to reassure me over this. It's much appreciated.

@MrsMccarthy: I'm sure everything will be fine, just a note, during my pregnancy, my anxiety was through the roof (different reason, but still through the roof!) and I found it really helpful to talk to a counselor. Feel free to tell me to bog off if I am overstepping, but pregnancy can be such an anxious time and it can be worthwhile to talk to someone if its affecting things.

@MrsMccarthy: If you feel like you’re failing at not worrying about food restrictions; do you think talking to your doctor about his/her specific food concerns would help? Because definitely not all doctors/midwives are going to freak out on you for eating cooked chicken or turkey sandwiches. Most won’t. Would hearing that from an actual health provider cancel out the internet dire food warnings?

Really, try not to worry. The risk of these things they tell you not to eat is so extremely low, it's ridiculous they even make you worry about it. Stop beating yourself up for eating things you like.

I'm a firm believer in that you know your body best and are your best gauge for knowing when something is not right.

I woke up in the middle of the night at 20 weeks with stabbing pain in my side/lower abdomen. 2 phone calls to my Dr, 2 trips to L&D and about 8 hours of unbearable pain I learned I had a kidney stone and was admitted for 3 days, so i could have IV pain meds and be monitered until it passed. But I knew something wasnt right, even after they sent me home from L&D the first time saying i must have pulled a muscle.

@MrsMccarthy: I'm sorry you're feeling worried. Whatever it's worth, I think your rotisserie chicken is extremely low-risk, since it was piping hot in the store...and would therefore have had to have been contaminated on the way or after arriving at your house, which seems very unlikely. Also, haven't they (the powers that be) loosened the restrictions on seafood somewhat? I think as long as you're not eating tons of tuna steak/albacore, swordfish, or the other high-mercury ones, you (and LO) should be safe! I hope your doc gets back to you and you feel better soon!
