We flew over The Weeknd and had no issue with the pouches. They did wipe the outside of them but did not open any.

For domestic (USA) travel any liquid/food/in-between for a child is allowed in "reasonable" amounts (aka not limited to the 3 oz rule). So pouches are fine, milk/juices boxes/bottles too. I've flown with pouches several times without problem. I try to tell the TSA that the pouches are in there and they may swab them, but I've never had an issue.

They are definitely allowed but in my experience some TSA agents don't necessarily know or understand all the rules... I would just have this link saved and handy in case you need a reference. It says, "You may also bring gel or liquid-filled teethers, canned, jarred and processed baby food in carry-on baggage. These items may be subject to additional screening." I think that should cover the pouches :-)

I've never had a problem and never been asked to open a pouch, only was asked to open formula (liquid premix bottle) which I refused to do since they don't need to open them to test them.

I think a few times they ran them through the same machine as they run formula through, but most of the time didn't say a peep about the pouches.

I've never had a problem, but on more than one occasion they request for me to open one pouch of my choice to be subject to a vapor test. You open the cap, they hold a test strip above the opening, not touching, then put that in the machine. I just feed LO that pouch once we get to the gate. It depends on the airport for that, vut I've had vapor tests in Denver, Phoenix, Albany, and Redmond/Bend. Other times we walk right through, after they inspect that the pouches are factory sealed.

@Adira: I forgot to pull mine out once, and they pulled me off to the side and went through my entire bag. So now I keep all the food (pouches, bars, baggies of goldfish/puffs) in a gallon ziploc and put that in the bin. Haven't had a problem since. It seems a lot of TSA rules are "open to interpretation" based on the screener, unfortunately.

You can bring them. They might just want to swipe them. I still take them out and put them in a bin, it cuts down on any nonsense if they see them from the beginning.

My advice is leave them in the bag and don't say anything. I've never had a problem doing that. But once when I took them out separately as I thought I should, they made me open every one to swipe the top. That could have been one bad tsa officer, but better not to draw attention!

You can bring any food for any age child you reasonably need for the duration of a flight, as long as it is either sealed or you allow it to be swabbed for residue. Sometimes they will ask you which child is travelling with you, I expect the question now and take everything out and say it's for this kid. We also have pre-clear and they give us very little trouble, though, they wave us through. I just like to be upfront.

On our most recent flight, for my six year old, the only thing they asked me to toss was the sealed bottle of water. I had 4 applesauce pouches, a small yogurt and a sealed milk box.

@Adira: All the time, and we take at least ten. They usually do pull the bag off the belt and swipe the pouches and my hands, but they are not subject to the liquid rule in my experience. I travel out of Atlanta airport.

We're traveling next month and I'm just trying to get a handle on what I can bring through security. I know food is okay, but liquids are subject to the 3-1-1 rule.

Pouches usually come in 3.5-4 oz containers, so wouldn't pass if they are considered a liquid. Anyone know how they are categorized? Have you traveled and gone through security with pouches?
