I have been pregnant 3 times.. First time it took a year and I miscarried at 6.5 weeks. Second time it took a full year again- and chemical pregnancy. This last time it took 3 months to get pregnant and it happened right after my HSG. All was good until the first u/s- there was a large bleed in my uterus and baby's heartbeat wasn't strong. 1 week later no HB. Had to have a D&C because my body wasn't miscarrying and I couldn't emotionally wait for that to happen.
Still trying ...

I've had 3 previous pregnancies, 2 miscarriages and 1 late-term abortion for medical reasons. We're back to TTC #1 now. Well, technically this month we're NTNP, but as far as I'm concerned we're trying. And I am SO impatient. It's been very easy for us in the past (1 month, 1 month, and 2 months), so I'm really hoping that will still be the case. But part of me feels like we've had such extraordinarily good luck with getting pregnant (though terrible luck in everything else) that it can't continue. Surely it will take a while this time, ya know?

How long have you been trying this time? It takes an average of 3 months when trying, and up to a year is technically considered normal when you're young. I know (really do get it) that it's hard to wait, but hopefully you'll be knocked up before you know it! I hope you're able to keep up the positive attitude about enjoying the intimacy and all. And if it gets to you, it couldn't hurt to talk to a professional about the feelings and memories it's bringing up. I have no way of knowing what sorts of feelings you have about it all, but if it bothers you there's no shame in getting a little help in dealing with it.

And thank you for being open about your experiences. It's really important to me to hear other women being honest about having had abortions. The stigma won't go away as long as we keep silent.

I don't think your terminations have anything to do with what's going on now! It's probably just age and how active you are now. No need to worry. :)

I wish you the best of luck! Hopefully you will get knocked up soon!! :)

My hubby and I have had three miscarriages, two before we were married and one that happened this last weekend. All pregnancies were unplanned. We discussed TTC before we found out we were pregnant last week, but we never actually started trying before getting the short-lived good news.

My fertility specialist wants me to wait until my second period before we start TTC. I admit that I'm nervous. It's been so easy for us to get pregnant... not so easy to stay pregnant. And I'm worried that my anxiety over our past miscarriages might hinder us now that we're actually planning to get pregnant this time. Lol.

Which is the main reason I'm here. To get advice and make some friends.

Good luck to you!

@stiletto_mom: I am currently on attempt #3 for our first chid. My previous two ended in miscarriage. I am wondering, perhaps, it feels like it was easier to get pregnant before because you werent actually trying. Everything might be the same, just a difference in perspective. Best of luck! :goodluck:

@stiletto_mom: Well, you are 10-20 times less active now than you were then, so it only makes sense that it would take a little longer. I know it's hard to be hoping every month; fingers crossed it happens soon!

@yoursilverlining: Thanks for the reassurance. =)

@Mum: Thank you! I've never regretted my decision and not ashamed of it. Just sometimes apprehensive about the need to argue the issue if something arises. But I know HB is usually warm and open, but I can never be too sure.

@Grace: Up until now, we weren't on BC, just pull out. Back in my teens, yes were super frisky... at least 5 - 10 times per day. The first time it happened on the first time we did not pull out (which is probably why I feel that it was super easy). The second, it happened because BC failed.

Both times I dreamed of pregnancy. Nothing yet this time around.

First off, you are right - it hasn't been long yet. I think you are on the right track by just trying to enjoy yourself. Second, were you on hormonal BC up till now? If you were, it can take around 6 months for your body to regulate itself and ovulate properly. As for why it isn't as fast as when you were a teenager...how quickly and easily did you get pregnant before? Somehow, I'm guessing there was more sex back then too.

@stiletto_mom: each woman is entitled to her feelings no matter how long she has been TTC so don't let anyone make you feel otherwise! We are all on the same journey, just a different path! I totally remember all of my disappointments early on, and they were all just as valid as the ones I have now.

Hi, first off - you're brave to share. I also terminated a pregnancy earlier in life, so you are not alone. I'm not TTC now, but outside of the scare tactic pseudo-science regarding abortion, there is no evidence that your prior experiences should impede pregnancy now, or carrying to term. I had zero issues getting pregnant when I was ready to do so and have a happy and healthy toddler now. Good luck!

@Mum: Thanks for your words of encouragement!! I know I'm not in the same situation as others who have been trying so hard, but it's just a different kind of disappointment since I feel like we are ready now, but nothing is happening vs not being ready before and have it happened twice.

Hi @stiletto_mom: My DH and I have been TTC since 10/13. I got my first BFP 12/13 but had MC in early 1/14. No luck since then. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 3/14 and started seeing a RE in 8/14. This past month I did my first round of Femara (letrozole) and am in the middle of my TWW.

Don't get discouraged! Positive thinking is hard to come by at times, especially when AF arrives, but, like you mentioned- you can still enjoy the intimacy! Good luck to you! :goodluck:

I've had two losses (and 2 D+C's), one of which was following IVF. We turned to IVF after 2 years without another BFP...and are still trying for our first LO.

Wishing you lots of luck! Do you mind sharing how old you are? If you don't conceive in the first 6 months, I think it would be reasonable to see an RE and do some early investigating!

Hi everyone, not sure how to say this or even if this is the right place. Hoping that someone maybe in a similar situation as me.

DH and I are TTC #1. I'm not charting or temping, so I guess technically trying not preventing (TNP). We are dtd almost every other day (and I know it doesn't really matter until O-days), but I'm just enjoying the intimacy and fun with my hubby atm.

Situationally, I've been pregnant before. About 10 years ago (when DH and I were just kids) we got pregnant. We were so young, still in school etc. We chose to terminate. The second time it happened, our contraception failed us. Terminated again. So, I've carried two pregnancies (only about 5 - 6 weeks each). Both of them were very different. First one, I was super nauseous at 4 weeks and craved raw salmon. Second one, nothing... maybe moody but that's it.

I'm anxious and nervous about TTCing as it naturally brings back memories. Also, we started NTNP in August, and TTCing in October and were kind of disappointed when AF came in November.

I know it's WAAAAAAYYY too soon to be disappointed, but as I got knocked up when I was young so easily, I suppose I thought it would be just as easy. I wonder if it's age or just luck?

Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone out there is TTCing their #1 and have maybe have been pregnant before (whether you terminated or loss doesn't matter). Just wanted to connect or hear about your experience(s). Thanks!!
