1st pregnancy: was on depo for years and took 6m to get pregnant. In fact, took 6m for me to get a 28 day cycle again. Before that, they were very long, coming off the depo.

2nd pregnancy (ended in MC): I was 2 days late to one shot and got pregnant. But, I had only had one shot before that. So, I wasn't on depo long enough.

I had a big surprise when I missed one of my shots. So, I think it really depends on the person.

I came off last October (9 months ago) been TTC for 6 months and no luck yet :( I had a 2 month period after stopping depo (blah) and after that I've been back to a regular cycle - charting telling me I have been ovulating too. Good luck I hope it doesn't take as long, honestly if I realised it would take so long I would've started trying as soon as we possibly could - and possibly not taken the shot in August to have given it more chance to get out of my system before our original TTC date.

Thanks for your reply @mmollison! Sorry you haven't had any luck so far. I' having what I think is my period (started on the 12th) so I cancelled my appointment for wednesday and hope my cycle comes back. I was told with my first dose that it can take up to a year to leave your system so I think we'll use condoms until early next year and then start trying properly.

Thankyou! I was told when I got the first shot that it could take up to a year for it to leave your system which I wasn't worried about at the time because I didn't think I would want another baby again so soon!

Hey ladies,
Just looking to hear your experiences on getting pregnant after being on the depo shot - mainly how long it took.
LO is currently 9 months and I've been on the depo shot since 6 weeks pp, I've also been breastfeeding this whole time. DH and I are looking to get pregnant next year and since I have an appointment for my next shot next week I'm seeing how long it took you to get pregnant. The original plan was next week's shot was going to be my last but if I need a longer period of time to get it out of my body then I'll cancel next weeks appointment.

Oh and also, I still haven't had AF, just a small amount of spotting in the past 2 weeks.

Thanks!
