@LibbyLou: thanks for replying! I didn't even know that one ovary could ovulate more often than the other!

@mrskansas: yes other tube was fine! I think I'm the exception not the rule because my open side has a weaker ovary that hardly ever ovulates! My blocked tube side ovary does my majority of ovulation. So I CAN get pregnant it just has to be the perfect storm. I know many after ectopics are not like me so take it with a grain of salt!

@LibbyLou: Was your other tube healthy and open? I wasn't sure if one damaged tube would affect fertility from the other side.

@mrskansas: sand for me happened. Ectopic and saved tube. We started trying immediately. Turns out my ectopic tube is mostly blocked and it took almost a year past it happening to find out. If you don't get pregnant in the first few months you can always request a HSG to see if tubes are clear.

Good luck!!

@Anya: Thank you for your advice! It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that has gone through this. I'm going to start using OPKs this month and hopefully can get pregnant with a baby in the right place :)

@Anya: Did you have any risk factors for an ectopic or was it just bad luck? I feel like if I had any risk factors (other than a prior ectopic now and possible scar tissue from the surgery) than I would wait but I just don’t see the point since, like you, track ovulation.

@mrskansas: that's great, sounds like it's been going down quickly! As far as the issue of waiting for dating purposes, it comes up on the loss boards here from time to time and you'll find a lot of people who were told the same advice- some wait and some don't. MY decision was to wait until I was emotionally ready, not worry about the dating. Especially since I was tracking ovulation so I'd have a pretty good idea of the timing even though post-loss cycles can be crazy.

Also, when I did get pregnant again, my dr had me come in for an ultrasound around 5 weeks to rule out another ectopic (because although still low, your risk of ectopic does increase if you've had one before). At that stage it doesn't tell you anything about the viability of the pregnancy but just confirming that it was NOT in the tube was a big relief.

@Anya: Thanks for your reply! I'm sorry to hear about your experience as well.
My hcg on Friday was 22 and as of yesterday my Wondfo hcg and LH tests were completely negative. I go in for my follow up on Friday.
I'm so happy to hear that you're pregnant again and everything is going well!

Hi, I am so sorry for your loss. Is your doctor testing your hcg post surgery? I had a similar experience (pregnancy removed and tube saved) and I had to go back for weekly beta tests to see my hcg go back to 0, to be sure there wasn't any retained tissue from the pregnancy. Once that was negative I tried again. So I didn't wait a cycle, although it did take a while to ovulate after the loss. I think I ended up ovulating 33 days after the surgery, but I went on to have a healthy pregnancy. Best of luck

Hi y'all! I'm a long time lurker finally joining after suffering two back-to-back losses.
I had surgery to remove an ectopic pregnancy last week (removed the tissue and saved the tube) and am wondering how long those who have had an ectopic waited to TTC? I know when methotrexate is used it is advised to wait 6 months, but my doctor said with surgery I should wait one cycle for dating purposes.
I'm obviously anxious to get back to TTC but am also scared about this happening again! Any success stories?
