From what I've read, it seems like low body fat percentage only seems to be an issue with TTC insomuch as it affects your ovulation. The issue isn't your body fat percentage itself, but if you're having a regular period.

But it's definitely a good idea to mention it to your doc anyway. And good for you for being so fit!

This was not an issue at all for me, but I wouldn't assume it would be a problem since you have a regular cycle. I'd definitely bring it up at your appt in July, but to me, it's just something I would keep in mind if TTC starts taking a while. I remember there was someone on Weddingbee who was having issues not ovulating, but if she made a very concerted effort to eat more fat, she did, but her periods were never regular.
I hear more stories about people who are very overweight having problems conceiving, than people who are very thin, and it doesn't sound like you are unhealthy skinny.

My crossfit coach was probably that low! She had no problem conceiving and few a very healthy little toddler! She is ultra super fit and lean and struggles to put fat on for competitions. Your dr could check your blood to see if you are ovulating, too

I can't personally relate but I know I've read others stories (usually blogs and whatnot) where people with low body fat had to ease up or change their workout routines in order to get pregnant. Since your annual is next month, I would definitely mention it to your doctor and see what he/she says!

@sugar.biscuit thank you for you feedback! I have my annual in early July so I will definitely bring it up then. I am more than happy to ease up on exercise and put on some weight if my current body fat presents a problem with fertility. I have read somewhere that even if you are having periods regularly, you might not be ovulating so hopefully that is not the case. Thanks again!

I use to have less than 15% body fat but that was a long time before we were TTC. I'm hoping other ladies can give more input on this for you. All I have to offer is this...Have you discussed your TTC goals with your doctor? I did this at my annual pap when we first started trying & that is when I brought up all my concerns with my doctor. They will let you know of this is a problem.

Hi everyone.
My husband and I are finally TTC. I'm a bit of a gym rat / healthy eater with a small frame and quite low body fat percentage (13.9). I've always had regular periods however and still do (28-30 day cycles). Anyone here also have considerably low body fat percentage (less than 15%) and was able to get pregnant with no problems? I'm wondering if this is going to be an issue for us. I'm considered very healthy overall.
