The styles of dresses that she is looking at right now are going to be tricky if I'm PG.... I think I'm going to have to have a private chat with SIL at some point, and then swear her to secrecy because we really don't want anyone to know we are TTC, especially our parents. I do think ill wait until she really starts thinking seriously about selecting our dresses... She's got lots of time and I wouldn't be surprised if we don't pick them until after christmas. I think she'll be cool with it - she lived with us a few years ago while finishing up university and hid my engagement ring for DH for months!</p> <p>Things would be so much easier if we would have some TTC success next month! Then we would have LO by next summer and I would have the best motivation ever to lose my baby weight! </p> <p>PS @Ali - thank you for your perspective as a bride!!! You could not tell at all that it wasn't originally part of the dress. I'm going to confess something here - I was really pissed for, like, a month (until she got pregnant - and then lost the baby - then I realised it wasn't all about me and stopped being so selfish!). I didn't tell her I was upset, but boy was I miffed..... (wow, what a horrible person i actually am!!) </p> <p>So, advice number 1: I think you need to let your sister know sooner rather than later that you're TTC. I'm sure she'll be really happy for you!</p> <p>Anyway, I picked long black gowns made out of clingy, stretchy, lycra fabric. I bought my dress in a size up so worst case all I would have to do is have it taken in. Weddings and babies happen at the same time for a lot of families/close friends so they are perfectly used to it. I guess it will all depend on when she wants us to buy our dresses. There will be a coupe of months that we will have to suspend TTC'ing because the wedding is out of province and I don't want to risk not being able to travel. </p> <p>It's funny... We decided to TTC in June, and less than a week later she announced her engagement and asked me to be a BM! She already felt more than comfortable telling me the plans, so when we went shopping, we looked for something that would work both ways (look good preg or not) or something that had two options-- one that looked good now, and a maternity option. Then she ordered as late as possible. She ended up being 5-6 months pregnant at the wedding and wore 2 sizes larger in an empire waist dress, but she also said it wouldn't have zipped up a week later.<br /> If you are comfortable, I'd explain the sitation to her and ask the latest you could order. Usually it's only about 4 months for a BM dress, so if you weren't already pregnant at that point, you should be fine in whatever size you order. The one that was TTC actaully ended up needing to buy extra fabric and they did the alterations for her. It did get pricey though, and that was with an empire waisted dress. </p> <p>Have you let your SIL know you guys are TTC? If so that might help guide her in dress selections, nothign would be worse than a tight dress when prego or just being done! Either way, I'm not sure what to do about my measurements. Any advice? Or better yet, has anyone been in this situation before? </p>
