It took 11 months to conceive #1, and it wasn't until I started charting and drinking green tea to increase CM that it happened. I did that right away when trying for #2 and got pregnant my second cycle after having my IUD removed. We already had a larger gap than I originally wanted, so I wasn't waiting it out.

I got pregnant on the first try with my daughter, so I never had to track anything, we just DTD all the time.
I used OPKs when TTC #2 since my cycles got longer each month after weaning my LO.

I started out more relaxed with LO2, but quickly got to the same level as LO1. I will say that my baseline is different than yours though, which impacted my voting - I view knowing at least sort of when you ovulate to be a requirement of TTC. I think post baby things can be weird and unless you are willing to commit to EOD sex post period to next period (which sounds difficult with a LO), then I would at least do OPKs. I think this is especially important if you have a timeline in mind as the infamous 25% statistic concerns those that have well-timed sex.

I liked ovia the app. If you have something specific in mind I'd DTD every other day all cycle long to be sure and catch your window. I had a specific ideal time to have a baby due to work in mind and did not do temping or ovulation strips- every other day is what worked for us.

@JennyPenny: that's a good point, I definitely have in my mind when I want to give birth, so maybe I should be more into the charting.

Since you have specific timing in mind, you should probably track your cycles and use ovulation tests. I used an app and cheap ovulation predictors from Amazon. The tests worked really well for me. It took awhile for the first kid and 2 tries for the second, not really sure why but maybe since I had learned how my body worked more.

At first our approach was the same, however w DD1 we got ku'd first try..... so when ttc #2 we didn't do much until we weren't having success. Then I started to track, opk and temp... when that still didn't work we sought fertility help/got treatment. When that didn't work we stopped "trying".... got ku'd that month

With DS we took a similar low-key approach to TTC. But I was just ready to have a kid and didn't really mind if it took 1 month or 6. With #2 I had stronger opinions about a specific age gap I wanted so we got intense with the charting and OPK. So I think if you feel relaxed about when it will happen, starting with a relaxed approach works, but otherwise you might want to go ahead and figure out charting, etc.

After a few months of trying for LO#1, I started charting temps and using OPKs. It took 9 months to get pregnant. For LO #2, I had that prior information and so knew generally when in the month I ovulated (I have very regular cycles). I didn't chart or use OPKs at all the second time and it took 4 months. Our plan was to use OPKs if I wasn't pregnant that month. If you are looking for very specific timing, I'd use OPKs. If not,I'd go with the flow since you didn't have difficulty conceiving.

I loosely tracked with both pregnancies, just using an app to track my cycle (no temping or anything). Took 3 months with DS, and with DD we were trying NOT to get pregnant yet, (goal was 3 months again) and failed month #1. ;)

When DH and I TTC'd for our DD, we didn't really do anything but "pull the goalie". :silly:

We are going to TTC in April/May, and I'm much more aware of the timing being good because of work. I've never really tracked my period since having DD & I don't know the first thing about charting.

Just wondering if you all did something different for TTC baby #2, or 3 etc. ?

Would you go with the flow and see what happens? or should I track my cycle in case I have trouble this time?
