I was in the exact same boat as you. I've never really been into children and babies and never got baby fever before or during TTC. We just felt like we were in a good place and psychologically and emotionally ready to have a kid.

I'm currently pregnant and I still can't say I have "baby fever." I'm excited to have our baby and I already love her and know I'll love her even more when she's born. But that doesn't mean I have any sort of baby or kid obsession.

@alphagam84 Yes! It kind of freaks me out. I feel okay about everything as long as I don't think about it too much.
@pui I have heard that from some of my friends, so I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens

I think being TTC has a crazy way of flaring up baby fever. :P I hope you get pregnant quickly, but I bet if you're still TTC in a couple of months you'll start coming down with the fever. :)

We just started TTC too and I don't have the "fever" yet either! In fact I actually get a little freaked out by the thought of growing a human inside me body and I wonder if I'll be totally freaked out by having a big tummy!

Hearing others' experiences has made me feel much better about how I'm feeling. I just don't think it's in my nature to be baby crazy. A friend of mine told me that if I wait until I'm totally ready and everything is perfect, we would never have kids because there would always be an excuse.

DH and I both very career-focused so I think we'll always be busy and it will only get busier--I think if anything, the longer we wait the busier we'll be and the harder it will be to balance things. No time like the present, I suppose!

I never had baby fever, I don't think I ever would have had baby fever honestly. Maybe it's because I felt (and still feel) like I would have been just as happy without children as I would with them.

I went off my BCP because I had been on it forever and I was pretty curious on what my body would be like (I had crazy cycles before going on it)...well I got pregnant 2 weeks later. So I was pretty terrified/nervous initially!

BUT now that I have a 5 mo old I sometimes get baby fever, crazy right? It's like my LO is such a sweetheart right now and I miss her being so little lol, that it gives me baby fever sometimes. And she's still a baby! I actually didn't know I would like having a little baby so much. I always enjoyed kids when they were around 1 or so but I never knew babies were so fun! So yeah, my feelings changed after I had my LO :)

We are going to start TTC this week and I'm not exactly excited about it. DS is almost 2 and I'm not getting any younger so if we want another (and we do), we need to get on it. The thing is, I'm so happy with how things are now, I get nervous thinking about rocking the boat and adding another. Also, we didn't have to try to get pregnant with #1, we pulled the goalie and it happened. So I think I"m nervous that it won't be as easy the 2nd time around.

@yoursilverlining I don't think it sounds horrible at all, because that's how I feel! The entire notion of parenthood does scare me. I think for me it's been kind of like how I felt getting married--planning the wedding is fun and exciting but it's also a serious thing to be committing to someone for life.

I didn't have baby fever at all until after I started TTC my son. Honestly, we only started trying because D had baby fever pretty bad, it was something I wanted eventually, and we were in a pretty good place to start.

We are going to start TTC soon but I haven't been hit with baby fever either (yet). I think we're only starting to consider it seriously because I'm in my early 30s so we know we need to get on it soon!

Your post sounds like something I could have written word for word when we decided to TTC!! I’ve never had “baby fever”; we were more logical then emotional about the decision/timing to start trying although my husband definitely had baby fever. I thought it would take us several months to conceive since my husband was in his mid-40’s at the time, and so figured I would have a bit of time to get “the fever” :silly: Well, we got very lucky and I pregnant first try; so I didn’t have any time to adjust to TTC, and it definitely took me a bit to feel comfortable with being pregnant (sounds horrible saying that now!).

Once I started to feel really connected to the pregnancy, I began to feel more emotional about the entire process and we now have a 27 month old daughter. I can’t imagine life without her and I love her fiercely and beyond words.

Parenthood SHOULD scare you some; it’s a huge, serious and life-changing thing. I don’t think you should be worried if you are nervous; honestly, I’m only nervous when people are not nervous at all.

Whew, you are all making me feel much better! I feel like I should be more excited but honestly, if I think too much about it it scares me a little. It all must have worked out well for those of you who decided to try for another, so that's encouraging.

Like some of you said I feel like I'm excited about the process and I'm kind of a control freak so I enjoy the planning aspects right now. I am hoping that the rest will come in time.

@RachieCakes, I'm glad you said that, because I can't wrap my mind around it now and I can't really imagine a magical switch flipping when I get pregnant! I'm trying not to overthink too much but it's my natural inclination.

I was the same way! DH was super ready but I was not as ready. I was very excited TTC but I didn't have baby fever. Even during early pregnancy, I struggled to really connect with my baby and feel the baby fever. Even now in 3rd trimester, I am excited and I love DD already, I still can't say I'm dying to be a mom lol!

I didn't have baby fever with my first. It was more like we know we wanted a baby and whenever it happens, happens. But I was totally laid back about it. Now that we're trying for baby 2, I am feeling the HEAT!

Yes, I was in a similar position to you and felt like timing was right, I wasn't getting any younger, etc., etc. I can't say that I got any more baby crazy during pregnancy or when my baby was a newborn, unfortunately. However, from about 6 months onward I have really loved having her in my life and struggle to picture how life would be without her here.

I am now pregnant with #2 and again went into it thinking that the time was right for spacing and all of that. I'm pretty excited this time around, but that is tempered by a little fear since I now know exactly how challenging pregnancy and newborn days can be

But you are definitely not alone in your feelings! And good luck to you :goodluck:

First time poster here! DH and I just started TTC for this first time this cycle, so I am in my first 2ww. I've recently discovered I'm not as patient as I thought I was!

While I am excited about the possibilities for our future family, I've never been the type prone to baby fever. DH and I talked it over and figured we're in a good place financially and own our home, have retired in-laws nearby who are eager to babysit, and we know we want to have kids. I just started feeling like I will never be more ready than I am now, even if I'm not really "ready", so I should stop overthinking it and just go for it. I don't think there will ever necessarily be a better time and DH definitely feels ready, so we decided to start trying.

I see a lot of my friends with baby fever and I can't really relate. I feel like maybe I'm approaching this from more of a logical/practical place than an emotional one. I know that I want kids but I just have yet to feel giddy at the prospect.

Did anyone else feel this way when TTC, or know someone that did? Did your feelings change throughout the pregnancy or after you had the baby?
