Yup, he is excited. His best friend and wife are expecting so he's hoping we get pregnant soon so our kids can play together.

DH wanted kids and is very excited to be a dad. But like @Rubies, he wasn't gung ho about TTC. It's kind of a weird process. I mean, increased sex is great, but it's also kind of scheduled sex (or, at least for us it was do to work schedules....) Also, we had been together for 10 years when we started TTC so some of the spark of sexy time wore off oh...say, about 5 years ago ; )

DH would talk about it more than I would. We arent TTC anymore. But he would always bring up "When you are pregnant...." or things about the baby rooms. Toys/themes. Stuff like that.

@kml636: I'm glad my husband's not the only one, but it's good to hear your husband is more into it now! I try not to talk about it too much with my husband because I don't want to annoy him, but I also make it perfectly clear that we are trying, so he's not totally surprised if/when I get a BFP!

Mine is also rather ambivalent. Actually it was a big struggle because he said he didn't care. Then I was pregnant &
Miscarried, and he did start to get a little more excited. As of now I try to not talk about it all the time, just doing the BD all the time!

My husband is really excited for us to TTC. My brother in law is more laid back in general and he never really showed a ton of excitement - but he is a GREAT dad.

I've heard people say that a woman becomes a mother in her mind the day she learns she's pregnant, but a man doesn't become a dad in his mind until the baby is born. Maybe it's similar with the TTC phase?

We aren't even officially TTC until the 15th and he's already reading "What to expect when your wife's expecting" on his NOOK lol It's the cutest thing. He asked me last night if I had lots of cravings the first two times I was pregnant.
Since we've never had a child together and he's never had one at all it's really comforting and sweet to me that he's just as excited about this journey together as I am.

@Adira: My husband was complaining about the thermometer this morning! haha I just bought one and it beeps pretty loud. I don't think he'd tell me to stop though.

He's pretty excited about TTC. He doesn't always show it, and I think I'm more obsessive than him, but I know he wants a kid. He was actually ready TTC before me. He just never told me because he didn't want me to feel pressure. (I'm 7 years younger than him) As soon as I mentioned having a baby, he was very excited and ready to start right away.

Hubby seems excited to have a baby and he's taken more of an interest in my friends kids. I'm not sure if he's that excited about TTC, which i probably a good thing, because I'd feel like I was letting him down with every BFN.

DH and I took turns with baby fever the past year before actually TTC. Now that we are about to start cycle 3... he's anxious to get pregnant... but at all obsessive like I am... he just listens to the lil tid bits I tell him and has been learning about the process here and there... He's definitely excited to be a daddy. He hung out with his best friend's son the other night and came home super amped about wanting kids... :)

My husband was much more excited to TTC than I was, to be honest. We got pregnant the first month we didn’t use protection, so there wasn’t a long TTC process for him to be involved in (except that we discussed going off b/c for months beforehand), but he’s been great throughout the pregnancy. He reads the pregnancy books (has 2 on his nightstand right now! lol), and polls his female mother friends about their pregnancies and any weird symptoms I have. He’s forever coming home with “well, I was talking to X today about what you said, and she said she had the same thing at 21 weeks!”. He is very excited to have children, he definitely has the baby rabies.

My husband was pretty much like yours. It finally came down to my turning 30 and saying that I didn't really want to leave it too long just in case we ran into fertility issues. I told him it could take months... or years, even. Well, it happened after the first try so now he jokingly says that I tricked him.

Although he is pretty excited now, I can honestly say he didn't really "get it" until my belly started to grow (so for me, like 20 weeks or so). With every tangible milestone (ultrasounds, knowing the baby is kicking, seeing the growth, etc.) he gets more into it. I don't think it's all that unusual for men to process things that way, though. At least I hope not!

@Rubies: haha, that's too funny! I suspect that might be what happens with me since I tend to get up before my husband. I hope he's excited but... who knows! He doesn't actually get excited about much, not even thing he really likes, so this may just be his personality.

@artbee: You're lucky your husband is so involved!! My husband is annoyed at my temp taking because the thermometer I bought is digital and it beeps FOUR TIMES once it's done taking your temp. And I'm always taking it when my husband is sleeping, so it wakes him up, haha. BUT he hasn't told me to stop, so I'm taking that as a good sign!

although, he was the one who brought up initially being ready to TTC, so that might have something to do with his excitement level

He was very excited. My husband doesn't show his emotions very much, but I knew he was all about it because he'd research everything. He's always tell me something he read about how to get pregnant, and he was the one with the phone app to chart my temps and he'd stick the thermometer in my mouth every morning.

I'm curious how other TTC Dads behave!

My husband seems fairly ambivalent about us having kids. We talk about it occasionally and he basically tells me he doesn't care if we have kids or not. Sometimes when we hang out with my best friend and her daughter (who's now two), he seems like he wants to have kids, because he enjoys playing hide and seek with her. But he'll tell me he doesn't really care.

BUT when it comes time to TTC, he's totally willing to get down the BD (maybe that's just a guy thing) and he's very accommodating afterwards when I just lie there for 30 minutes with my hips elevated (hahaha, I'm so cool).

I'm curious how other significant others behave during the TTC time. Is your SO excited to have kids or are they ambivalent like mine? Will mine become excited when I'm actually pregnant? Or at least when we have the kid...?
