I would probably wait to use OPK until you get your first post-Mirena period, just so you know approx when to use the test sticks and are not wasting any...but if you want to use them right away I certainly don't see any harm in doing so!

I had my Mirena removed in May and my periods returned to normal immediately. We used protection for several more months because we were not ready to TTC, but I got pregnant as soon as we didn't use any protection.

Here's to hoping you get your BFP quickly!

Dr told me pregnancy can occur immediately after removing the Mirena. I was getting my period every two weeks while on Mirena and having it removed caused my cycle to regulate. (Opposite of most I think) I had an HSG the second cycle post-Mirena and that's when I got my BFP.

I'm on it now for the first time, so I can't speak to TTC after it, except that my OB said fertility returns IMMEDIATELY after removal. If you don't know of any potential TTC issues, I personally would just have lots of fun for the next month or two while you see what pattern your cycle is in. Maybe you'll luck out right away, and if not you can start temping or using OPKs then. Maybe use OPKs now and then to see if you can figure out when you ovulate if you can't relax without having some kind of guidance. When we were TTC, I was way to uptight from the beginning and I should have just enjoyed the process and gone to a lot of movies, dinners, and other fun stuff with DH instead of stressing from the beginning. This should be a fun time!

If you can't wait or if you don't get a BFP the first couple months, I highly recommend Take Control of Your Fertility.

I am having my Mirena removed today and I am excited but oddly nervous about starting to ttc. It feels like I am jumping into this odd world and I have no idea where to set my expectations.

I want to ask about the odds of it happening right away or the odds of it taking a few months for my cycle to straighten itself out but I know that it is pretty impossible to answer that. Should I start temping right away? Using opks? I feel like I have been reading about all of this for so long and now that the time is here I don't know what to do!

Any advice or anecdotes would be appreciated! If anyone has any suggested reading I am all ears too!
Thanks!
