@LaughLines: I'm so glad you're finally getting to the end of this

The CM sounds promising. Beware with the OPKS, because I definitely drove myself crazy wondering if they ever went negative after the miscarriage (since OPKs detect HCG as well as LH) and thus whether my positive ones were real.

I wouldn't really consider that late ovulation, though, for your DH's benefit. If you're just stopping bleeding, it sounds like you might be getting ready to ovulate right on track!

If it helps, I think I ovulated exactly 1 week after my last day of real bleeding (I spotted for another day after that). Though, again - no clue whether I actually ovulated or just had the LH surge with no egg release.

I'll be thinking of you and wishing you luck whenever you and DH decide to go for it :goodluck:

@peachykeen: i ended up having retained tissue and having to get a d&c last Friday. I think I'm finally almost done.bleeding and i got an almost negative pregnancy test this morning for the first time. But i have been having some cm, so I'm going to take an opk today and see if that's dark. I havent tried before now because i was still bleeding pretty heavily.

I think dh is skeptical and thinks if we bd tonight the egg won't be "good quality" because i told him i had read late ovulation could mean lower quality egg (i ovulated cd24 or 25 with the pregnancy we just miscarried) so he's nervous and wants monitoring for future cycles (i have pcos and will be seeing a fertility specialist soon)

So we'll see....

@LaughLines: Hey! We decided to go for it. We BD'ed every other day once I stopped bleeding until I thought I had ovulated (I think this past Monday). We probably should have just kept up with it but DH is sick and we're both exhausted trying to get our house on the market.

I have no idea if I really ovulated because my OPKs didn't get very light before suspected O. They were super dark, then got just light enough to suggest a negative, then went positive again (but I got a pretty clear negative the day after, so I'm hopeful). If I *did* ovulate, it was on my normal schedule - day 13 if you count the miscarriage as CD1.

I guess I'll know more in about a week...

How are you doing? Any luck with the OPKs? :goodluck:

@peachykeen: I wouldn't feel bad if you don't feel like you need to go through an extensive grieving process. Every person is different. I felt like trying to be upbeat was the best thing for me after my second loss. My husband and I booked a weekend away. I tried to make plans with friends for nights out and make efforts to exercise and eat well. I tried to watch funny movies and listen to happy music with the thought that if I acted upbeat, I'd start to feel upbeat. Everybody is different and you gotta do you.

@LaughLines: @peachykeen: The only way I know my levels weren't zero when I ovulated and got pregnant were because I was still being monitored by my OB to make sure my levels zeroed out and an RE because I was trying to start a Clomid/IUI cycle. The RE wouldn't let me get started on the treatment cycle because of the HCG lingering in my system. While getting my HCG tested by two different offices, I was also working with an acupuncturist and doing BBT charts so I knew with some certainty as to when I ovulated. I think my HCG levels were very very low but not officially "zero." I did start getting negative wondfo's during the two week wait, though, so I knew when testing when I got a new positive.

@LaughLines: I feel like it HAS to be the residual HCG in my system but at the same time... if it feels right, I figure it couldn't hurt? I'm finally starting to feel normal again so it wouldn't be the worst thing. Still undecided.

So sorry for your loss

We did not wait to ttc after my miscarriage and subsequent d&c, and I ended up getting pregnant before my period returned. that baby is now a healthy and thriving 10 month old! My ob gave me the okay and said that most doctors advise to wait so that dating the pregnancy can be easier, but she didn't feel that was necessary and as long as we felt emotionally ready (and we did), she said we could go ahead. Hoping you have your rainbow baby soon!

@LaughLines: I'm sorry you're experiencing this as well but glad we are figuring it out together! I used a Wondfo HCG test this evening and it's very faint (DH said he couldn't see anything but of course I can see it), so I think my levels are dropping very quickly. I am 5-6 days post-miscarriage and my bleeding is finally very light today.

After reading what @lucy123: and @Shantuck: said, I also used a Wondfo OPK and got a blazing positive. I'm not reading much into that since I know HCG isn't zero yet, but I am surprised it would be that dark when my HCG test is so light. Fertility is confusing.

@peachykeen: I think we're around the same timeline. I had a MC last week as well and want to try again right away. I started bleeding last Saturday the 8th and am still lightly bleeding. The last wondfo pregnancy test i took was medium dark... but that was a couple days ago so maybe it's lighter now.

Do you ovulate regularly? I have PCOS so my ovulation is all over the place and for my past 2 pregnancies I used clomid. So i'm not super optimistic that i will even ovulate at all this month, but i'll be testing with opk's just in case

@Shantuck: I didn't know you could ovulate before your hgc went to zero!

@peachykeen: I had almost the same situation as @Pollywog: my first pregnancy resulted in a missed m/c and I had a D&C, but I waited one full cycle until I got my period to try again. On that try, I got pregnant a second time and miscarried again, although this time naturally. I was told to wait again to "heal" and get my emotions straight, etc, although I could never get a solid medical reason out of them for that suggestion. I ignored the advice and conceived a third time, without waiting, about 3 weeks after the natural m/c. I guess I was feeling a bit reckless and ignored the OB's advice to keep on waiting because I saw firsthand that waiting is no guarantee that everything will go well. Also, I was charting like a maniac so I knew exactly when I ovulated, which was a hell of a lot more accurate for dating than some wack post-m/c LMP date. The third pregnancy was healthy and stuck, and resulted in my 7-week old son.

If you do decide to go for it without waiting, just be aware that your cycle might be really weird with delayed ovulation or anovulatory, even if you're typically super regular. They didn't test me down to zero, just to double digits, I think, so not sure what your hcg numbers would have to be for you to ovulate. Hang in there, it is so hard right now

I am waiting only because I know my body is completely out of whack after losses. My cycles are all over the place, and I know my hormones are low (confirmed by a doctor that focuses on finding the underlying causes of infertility).

I had a loss in August and just finished my second post loss cycle, and would still be scared to get pregnant knowing how low my hormones are. We'll be working on correcting that for a couple months before going back to femara and trying again.

@winniebee: yeah, getting pregnant has been easy. I've gotten pregnant both times we've tried since my cycle returned. The staying pregnant...not so much.
@peachykeen: thank you! I'm hoping that nursing a bit less will help my hormones balance out enough to keep a pregnancy. Kiddo and I both had a bad cold, she was barely nursing and my supply suffered, so kind of a blessing in disguise I guess.

@peachykeen: Checking for low progesterone isn't standard protocol for a loss. I have a diminished ovarian reserve, which is the reason behind my recurrent losses, so all of the various testing I have done after these losses was at an RE's office to start down the path of considering fertility treatments. This pregnancy occurred naturally before starting any treatment, which is why I believe that theory that you are more fertile after a loss due to the progesterone.

I waited 2 cycles--my ob had said to wait 1, and then I wasn't ready for the emotional rollercoaster of ttc again then, plus a work opportunity popped up that made me want to wait an extra month. I got pregnant again on my 2nd cycle trying again, so 4 cycles after my loss

ETA I also was breastfeeding during my loss--not sure if it contributed, ob said it didn't. It was excruciatingly painful for me to nurse through being pregnant and miscarrying, so I weaned shortly after (lo1 was 22 months old anyway and I was already thinking about weaning). So I wasn't bfing by the time we got this bfp

Thanks to all of you for sharing your experience & support! It helps so much to have a community like this when going through all this

Part of me knows it certainly wouldn't hurt to wait a cycle or two, but it took us a lot longer to conceive this pregnancy than with LO1, so I'd really like to take advantage of that supposed "boost" in fertility post-miscarriage if it's safe.

I know that I'm emotionally ready/prepared for either a :bfp: or :bfn: (and luckily DH seems to think he is) so we may halfheartedly try this cycle and just not expect much. I took one Wondfo HCG test on Saturday and was surprised/pleased by how light it looked already, so I guess we'll just take it a day at a time and see how my body handles this.

We immediately resumed ttc after we lost our first pregnancy at 6 weeks. I got pregnant with our daughter that cycle. I have pretty clear ovulation signs and a very regular cycle. That cycle was no different.

After my daughter was born, my period returned at 10 months. I got pregnant again the following cycle, miscarried again at 6 weeks, got pregnant again immeadiately, miscarried at 5 weeks...and am now not sure if I want to ttc immeadiately or wait until I'm done breastfeeding my 13 month old, in case that's the issue.

I'm honestly not sure whether waiting or ttc immeadiately is better.

With a first trimester loss, both my OB and high risk doctor have said that it's preferable to wait a cycle for dating, but there is no medical proof that outcomes are better if you do wait. Personally, I haven't done research as it relates to first trimester losses.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had two losses (a natural loss in June 2015 and a D&C in December 2015) and I tried immediately after both. With the natural loss, I was not given any restrictions. With the D&C, I was told that I'd ideally wait until after I got my first period (which was advice I didn't heed). I was told that the rationale was that with a D&C, there can be some bruising in the uterus that could theoretically cause a subsequent miscarriage. I did end up pregnant again that first cycle after the D&C and am currently 37 weeks. Things were a little dramatic at the beginning of this pregnancy because I did have a subchorionic hematoma (a bruise in my uterus) that they had to monitor during the first trimester but it was small and healed on its own fairly quickly. This wouldn't have been a concern it sounds like if I'd had a natural loss rather than a D&C. Dating was a little trickier as well because my last period was the first after my D&C (though less confusing than if I hadn't had any period after the D&C, which happens to some) but they just ended up assigning a due date based on the first ultrasound so it wasn't really that much of a challenge.

I did ovulate before my HCG levels zeroed out but they were fairly low. I did post this same question on the TTC after a Loss thread and many other ladies suggested that your body will tell you when you are ready and if it's too soon, then likely nothing will happen that month. I also know that it can be easier to conceive after a loss because of the elevated progesterone levels that are lingering from the prior pregnancy. However, some losses can take more time for hormones to regulate than others. After my first loss, I had a big progesterone deficiency but after my second I bounced back quickly it seemed from a hormonal perspective. Obviously, I'm in the final stretch of pregnancy and things have been fairly uneventful other than that initial hematoma so I have no regrets for trying. Best of luck! Hope it happens quickly for you!

I'm sorry for your loss.

We waiting until I got my period after my first miscarriage. With the second miscarriage, my husband needed another month away from TTC. This however was torture to me since I wanted to get right back to trying! Plus my second miscarriage was drawn out (took misoprostol, levels never declined, had an incomplete miscarriage, ended up with a D&C).

In hindsight I'm glad we waited, since it was easier to date the pregnancy. It can cause stress to not have an idea of how far along you are without your LMP to help. Another month in the grand scheme of things doesn't matter, but I totally get your wanting to immediately try again.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had a blighted ovum and subsequent natural miscarriage around 8 weeks this summer. At my follow-up appointment, my OB recommended waiting after I got my period to start TTC. He said it was purely for mental health/dating reasons, but at that same appointment, he also confirmed that my uterine lining was already at a normal level, so I can't comment on whether there might be physical reasons that simply didn't apply to me. I ended up getting my period exactly 28 days after my first day of bleeding (which was a few days before the actual miscarriage), so it wasn't a long wait.

I'm so sorry  I had to test to 0 (ectopic) but did not wait a cycle to TTC again and I'm glad I didn't. I started temping again when the bleeding stopped and ended up ovulating on day 33 of you count the loss as CD1. I'm pretty sure you'd have to be fairly close to 0 to ovulate again.
