@FaithFertility: Because I also have OCD, it's super hard to focus on anything else! Lol I try daily to relax, but it just isn't working. I go to acupuncture weekly, meditate daily, and try to do yoga a few times a week. It helps in the moment, but shortly thereafter, the anxiety comes right back. Ugh.

Awwwww I am sorry you suffer from anxiety anf panic disorders, no fun!!!!

I've never been diagnosed but I know I have super high anxiety and when really bad have heart flutters....

TTC/infertility didn't help that!!!!!! But I made it through, I will say having something "else" to focus on helped! I read the bible app ebery night, some of the stories just really helped to calm me!

I still deal with it now, but try daily to remind myself all is well!

Best of luck and many prayers to you!

@sorrycharlie: Thank you!

You've both made me feel a lot better about it. Should I contact my GP or my OB? My OB knows how much I struggled with PPA and also with my m/c.

@ValentineMommy: I was put on lexapro around 14 weeks. I really should have bucked up and asked to take it earlier, but hindsight is 20/20. I would definitely talk to your doctor! I'm only on 10 mg and it's amazing the difference it has made..night and day. I can't get over it.

They actually warned me I'll have to bump up in dosage a little bit, because by 3rd tri your blood volume is bigger, so the medicine isn't as effective. And I can actually tell - my anxiety has come back (though not as bad as before) so we may bump up to 15 or 20 at the end of the month, not sure.

They assured me that the risks to baby were minuscule and haven't been able to been proven whether it's medication OR basic pregnancy. i.e., baby with side effect A was born to mom on anxiety med, and off. so they can say pregnancy = the side effect (say, more fussing days 1-3) but not that anxiety med = that side effect. They said my mental health (and flooding the baby with stress hormones) was an equal risk, and they were more concerned with happy mama!

I hope that helps some. I was so paranoid and guilty starting lexapro...but it's been amazing.

@babycanuck: Oddly enough, my anxiety was totally gone when I was pregnant. I never felt better! I miss that :crying: I have b12 anemia and get monthly shots for that, but I had no idea about b6! I'll definitely look into that! Thank you :)

@ValentineMommy: My doctor put me on 10 mg of cipralex. Every doctor will have their own opinion and every country/state/province may have different regulations, so have an OPEN conversation with him or her.

Trust me, I feel your pain, 100%. I've been there, I am there, but I know that it gets WORSE when you get pregnant, so if you don't find some way to help you out, you'll be generally unhappy.

If you're not ready yet to try meds, try taking B6. My GP put me on B6 before I lost total control of my emotions. She said take one whenever you're feeling emotional, and it definitely helped. Take some time trying that - don't take it every day, but when you are feeling extremely anxious, and see if it works for you.

@ValentineMommy: I am going through this right now. I truly suggest you going to speak with your GP and ask them for something that is safe for you to take during pregnancy. I am on a very low dosage of anxiety/depression medication and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Seriously, day 2 after I started taking I felt totally different. I also specified that I wanted something that wouldn't make me "numb". I still have my emotions, but I am in control of them now.

I am still in my TTC process because i have medical issues I'm dealing with that is preventing me from getting pregnant, but I don't know how I would have got through things WITHOUT the meds. I've been on and off them for a few years, took a break at one point and went back on. I know I need them, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Anyone out there successfully get pregnant/have a baby with a severe anxiety disorder?

I've always had bouts of anxiety, and suffered from a panic disorder for several years (it comes and goes).

When we were TTC DS, I was in a "good" place and my anxiety was at a low point. Now that we're TTC#2 and I've suffered a loss a few months ago, my anxiety is at an all time high....on top of the fact that I had some extreme PPA that never fully went away. It's really bad.

As I'm sitting here at work, it feels like I can't breathe, my chest is tight, and my stomach is in knots. I feel like this most of the time. I meditate daily and go to acupuncture weekly, which helps in the moment but once it's over, I'm back to the way I felt before.

I'm worried that this amount of stress/anxiety is going to affect our ability to conceive again. I keep reading things like "once you stop worrying, it'll happen"....and I'm thinking, I haven't stopped worrying since birth lol. Just wondering if I'm alone in this.....
