@MsBAM: That is true of the Clearblue Advanced. I tried those but never found them very helpful.

But the regular Clearblues don’t have any programming/learning aspect to them. So there is not problem only using a couple and reusing the tester.

@peachykeen: thanks so much! That makes me feel better, I think I just need to keep reminding myself it’s normal and will happen! I think my expectations are too high because LO number 1 happened so fast. I sent you a message on your wall

@skinnycow: That’s so true. I just need to be more patient. Same thing happened for me for LO, he was conceived on the first try so I think I had an expectation it would happen quickly again!

@badgermom: I’m thinking of using cheap ovulation tests too. Clearblue is way too much. With clearblue I thought you had to use them the whole time bc they get to know you’re baseline. And you can’t reuse the tester every month is what I heard?

@pachamama: Must have been tough emotionally to go through!

@MsBAM: We conceived DD1 on first try (actually technically before first try, since we were just being less careful with plans to start trying the following month). It took 4 months to conceive our next pregnancy, which ended in miscarriage, and another 2 months to conceive DD2, so 6 months in total for a successful 2nd pregnancy. Hang in there, as I know it's frustrating but totally TOTALLY normal

Also I used Wondfo ovulation strips or the equivalent. I think I still have some and would be happy to send them to you if you wall me your email.

@MsBAM: It's sucks, but sometimes you have perfect timing and it still takes awhile to conceive.

I conceived my daughter on the first month trying and it took about a year and a miscarriage to conceive #2. That was with using OPKs, temping, etc. at age 28. Just keep doing what you're doing and hopefully it'll happen soon!

@MsBAM: I used cheapie amazon ovulation tests until I thought they were positive and then used a clear blue smiley to confirm. That way I was only using a couple clear blue’s a month.

@MsBAM: It honestly comes down to luck. Even in the prime of fertility, couples only have a 25% chance of conception with perfectly timed intercourse. By your mid-thirties, it goes down to around to 15%. These are all averages of course (some people are naturally more fertile and some less.) Case in point, I got pregnant my 1st time trying with a chemical pregnancy. Next month, I got pregnant and had a miscarriage at 11 weeks. We took a month off and the I got pregnant with my son the very next month. I assumed we were just uber fertile
I was 29 at the time. Then, we tried again and absolutely nothing happened for 11 months. I was 33. This was with using OPKs, supplements, fertility drugs, acupuncture, etc. I got pregnant with my daughter just shy of a year. We just kept striking out. Having sex during your peak fertile days definitely increases your chances, but from 0% to 25% at best (depending on age and other factors. ) I am sure it will happen, but maybe not your time table. I would just chalk it up that you got really lucky the first time but be very hopeful for the future.

@LemonJack: Good to know!

@catchafallingstar: I’m 33. I thought using an OPK would help get things right on.

@poppygirl15: I guess I just have to wait and see and hope for the best in the next few cycles. Will be cycle 4 next month.

I used the Target brand ovulation tests. Not too expensive and helped a lot with conceiving. Good luck! Like others said, it can take time. With my second, it took 4 months, with "perfect" timing. Actually, the time I got pregnant, we thought we *hadn't* gotten the timing just right!

@MsBAM: there are so many factors that go into conceiving.. so many things have to happen at just the right moment. Most likely, you don’t have an egg quality issue. How old are you? Many couples under 35 take up to a year. If you’re over 35, don’t wait longer than 6 months to see your OB or RE.

I used the Wondfo tests on Amazon. You can get both ovulation and pregnancy tests and they’re super cheap.

That’s good to hear bc we conceived 1st cycle with our first too. Which ovulation tests did you buy? The clearblue is pricey to continue buying each month. Think dollar store tests would suffice? Is not conceiving likely quality of the egg and maybe not being viable?

It took us 6 months of trying for our second with “perfect” timining using temping and ovulation tests. Our first was conceived on our first cycle trying. I understand your disappointment but sometimes it just takes time. There are so many things that can go wrong with conception, you only have a 30% chance of it all coming together correctly and actually conceiving each month. I know it sucks to hear, but just keep doing what you’re doing.

Hi all,

So we’ve been TTC our 2nd child for the last three months and for the third cycle I bought a clearblue ovulation test that tracks the LH surge before ovulation as well. I took a pregnancy test and it’s negative again. The ovulation test told me when I was ovulating so why would the pregnancy test be negative again? It’s just disappointing...
