@Danizaur: Temping can be annoying but useful. For me, it helped me figure out that even though I have long cycles, I actually have a short luteal phase. You could probably get away with temping for one or two cycles and then stopping once you have a better idea of when in your cycle you're ovulating, and then just use OPKs.

Like you, my cycles before were textbook 28 days. Postpartum they were all over the place, but when we tried again at 4 months-ish it only took one try. Timing might be hard with a LO, but as long as you manage to hit your window, I don't think a long cycle will make it impossible?

@Danizaur: I like temping because it helps me feel like I'm doing something, even though obviously, I have no real control over it. Also, my OPKs have a tendency to go from light to almost positive several times in a cycle, so if I wasn't temping I may have thought that I had already ovulated and just missed the positive OPK.

@Danizaur: my pp cycles were super long. For this pregnancy I ovulated on cd 26! It was annoying to wait so long for ovulation but it didn't affect anthing.

@Danizaur: if you want to confirm that you're ovulating, temping is really the only way to do it. OPKs can tell you that your body is gearing up to O, but not that it actually happens.

My cycles pre-baby ranged from 30ish to 40ish days. There's no real issue except you don't get 12 chances in a year like every one else! More like 9 chances. ;) Post DD1 my cycles were textbook 28-30 days! Still took me 9 cycles of TTC for #2.

My cycles are usually 35 days and it took four cycles to get pregnant with H. I charted for a couple of years before we started trying. Pay attention to your CM too, that will help you figure out when to take the OPK tests. Also, FWIW, my first cycle after my period returned was much longer, and then it settled back into my usual 31-35 days.

@Danizaur: My cycles were irregular and ranged from 28-42 days before having LO. I was worried but we got pregnant on the first try (m/c) and then the second try (LO). I just ovulation tests and charted my temps to figure out when the right time was.

I have gotten pregnant 3 times with 45ish day cycles. All 3 times, I ovulated between CD 29-33. It's kinda annoying, but it can be done! I used OPKs and temped.

I had long cycles due to mild PCOS. Once I figured out when I ovulated I realized they were fairly regular just long. I took pregnitude supplements at my obgyn's recommendation. I did get pregnant so maybe it helped.

Do you have a fertility acupuncturist in your area? I don't have personal experience with long cycles, but have read numerous accounts (some on HB) of women with long cycles and the acupuncture made them normal pretty quickly.

after going off of birth control my cycles were 100+ days and i only ever got my period when it was induced by progesterone... so it could have gone much longer if i didn't make doctor appts to get a prescription (first one off the pill was 180+ before i cracked and went to the doctor)

Turns out i have PCOS, so i'm not sure my case applies to you. But i did get pregnant on my first cycle of clomid and using OPKs.

Taking B Complex helped regulate my long cycles very quickly, and then get pregnant shortly after by tracking my BBT and using OPKs to detect ovulation. I think I started the OPKs around cycle day 12. Good luck! :)

No success here yet, but I'm only 4 cycles in. Since coming off the pill, my cycles have ranged from 30-39 days. Before the pill, they were consistently 30 days. I haven't tried OPKs yet because I also don't know when to start testing, and I don't want to waste a ton of tests.

Any success stories? My last cycle was 42 days and I'm on CD3 right now. We're going to NTNP this cycle and I'm going to track my ovulation. Before T was born my cycles were textbook, 28 days, ovulating on CD14. We got pregnant first try. I'm a little nervous not having that advantage this time. We're hoping to get pregnant quickly so my due date will be at a good time for my work.

Any advice? Going to use OPKs but I don't know when to start testing.
