I loved charting my temperature each morning ... the other methods (cervix check, cm, etc.) didn't work for us. Temping was the only way I could see a pattern, a clear shift, and know when my period was coming.

I had an app called "Period Diary" that I used it to track my period, so I used that as a pretty loose guide. You put in your normal cycle length, but it learns your cycle & stuff, so it makes predictions of when you will ovulate & when you will start your period. We just had sexytime around the predicted ovulation time - I knew it could be a few days off, but we weren't planning on full-on TTC unless it took 6+ months to get pregnant. I think the app is useful if you don't want to temp & chart, but still want something to help. Hey, it's gotta be at least sort of accurate - we got pregnant the first month off BC!

@nana87: this is totally my issue right now!! I guess I just keep testing until AF shows up. I think I realistically know if it was going to be positive then I would have gotten a positive now.

When we were just seeing what happened for #1 I just tracked AF with a tracker app on my phone. I was extremely regular though

last month was our first cycle ttc and I didn't chart anything besides the day I got my period, and it definitely made me anxious for the last two weeks of the end of a longer-than-usual cycle--I tested SIX times, eek!

We want to try and go with the flow next time around, but I think I will give up on that easily since it's just not me to not do everything I can to make it happen. I have no idea how to do this, so looking to read some answers as well! Great thread :)

@Rubies: yes this is what I've done in the past too and it's been enough to at least guess at when I ovulated. I didn't want to stress about OPKs or timing our activity this month which was great the first two weeks but now I'm going crazy!

I had a really regular cycle and when I ovulated I would feel a little pinch around my ovary.
We never actively TTC, but I remember when I got pregnant with DS I felt the pinch later than I expected (cycle was longer than usual since I was still nursing). We had DTD that day so I had a.. uh oh moment, but quickly forgot about it until I started having pregnancy symptoms.

I didn't temp all the time, but I still did write down my days that I had CM because for me it's always been easy to track with that. DH would write it in his phone app and he'd keep track of it for me.

This is why I gave up "going with the flow" really quickly! It drove me crazy not knowing when to expect my period or whether we even had a shot on a given month.

Omg this was our month to just have fun so I tracked the days we got busy but wasn't tracking cm or OPKs.

Now based on past cycle lengths, AF should be here soon but I don't know when I ovulated so I have no idea what's going on. I have tested and all negative. .
