@ChelseaRose: Oh for sure! If I didn't just turn 35, and I hadn't had all of my losses, I would consider it, but I'm emotionally exhausted and done!

@2PeasinaPod: I was asked if I wanted a tubal when scheduling, but I'm not sure I'm ready to commit to not having more kids at age 32 with two boys. I think my husband will have to get a
Vasectomy in the future if we are truly done. It's the least he can do.

I hoped for a natural birth, but I had my midwife note that if I ended up with a csection, I wanted a tubal too. If they're already in there, why not?

@2PeasinaPod: I just had a tubal with my RCS. I am 10 days PP and feeling great. No noticeable change from my 1st c section. My recovery has been easier, but I contribute that to not having 28 hours of labor first.

@2PeasinaPod: My OB claims it's "phantom" and really the result of being older and the eggs being released being older/lower quality. Either way, I don't like it.

You might ask your OB how they do the procedure. Mine actually cut a chunk out of my tubes (two inches I think), burned and tied the ends. I think my risk of failure is pretty minimal ;)

This is my plan when I have #3. I'll have a RCS and figure it makes the most sense. My mom had one when she had a RCS for my sister and said it didn't impact recovery at all.

Good luck Monday!!

I would totally do that if I were to have a C-section and were done having children. I've really only heard good things about it in terms of recovery when a C-section is already planned/necessary.

This is my last pregnancy, and I will most likely have to have a RCS. I am seriously considering tubal ligation, my doc said that it only adds 2 minutes to surgery time.

@MamaG: Really good to know. My OB said that some people have reported more painful periods afterwards, but I've always had painful periods. Nothing a little Advil can't help. But I agree - I wish I could stop getting periods as well.

@ldh112: Ah gosh...this is a bit of a fear of mine. Ultimately, a surprise pregnancy after this would be fine with us, but I just don't want to go through the rollercoaster of emotion of another miscarriage. Been there, done that 4 times, and it sucked and got exponentially worse each time. But...I believe that the chance of getting pregnant after a tubal is 1%.

I guess I figured that since I was in the OR for this, I'd kill two birds with one stone so that DH didn't have to go through surgery as well.

One of my friends just had her 4th baby due to a failed vasectomy 😁 - even after 3 sterility tests! I know it is super rare... I'd be curious to compare failure rates for both.

My mom had a tubal with her RCS and didn't have any additional issues beyond regular CS healing. I will probably have one if have #2 and if I have a CS - otherwise DH will be getting snipped!

I had a tubal ligation in November with my RCS. I was 40 when our second was born and we knew given our age and finances we are done. It added a little bit of time in the OR for the procedure but nothing to the recovery.

I just wish I could stop getting periods. They are worse now than ever, but my OB says it's not related to the tubal but due to my age (aging is a bummer in some regards).

Good luck on Monday!

I'd definitely do the tubal ligation with a RCS. Your recovery won't be impacted at all! I didn't have one because I wasn't ready to make things permanent, but IF we have a 3rd child, I'll do it! Otherwise, DH may be headed for a vasectomy down the road...

I haven’t personally gone through it, but my coworker had a tubal with her 2nd c-section and she said her recovery wasn’t impacted at all by the tubal.

If we ever have another and I had a C-section again, I would definitely strongly consider it.

I've chronicled my story on HB a few different times, but on Monday, I'm having a RCS to give birth to LO#2. The last 5 years have brought 6 pregnancies, 4 miscarriages, 3 uterine surgeries, and 2 C-sections with Monday's surgery. Both DH and I are happy with our 2 boys, and we don't want to go through anything else. Because it's a RCS, I'm having a tubal ligation done at the same time. I'm 35, it took a lot for us to have just these 2, and I'm not willing to go through another miscarriage.

Anyone else have a tubal ligation or have had their DH go through a vasectomy? How was the recovery time if you had your tubal during your C-section? Anyone else considering?
