(not sure on height, maybe 32"?) when we started using the toddler tula. We didn't have one before then, so it wasn't like I was waiting for her to fit a certain height/weight. I took it in to the local babystore and realized his seat wasn't good and it wasn't adjusted correctly and that made all the difference. They fit differently and the tula is so much more comfortable. We got the tula bc I felt our son had outgrown the ergo, my DH was skeptical to say the least. He completely agrees with the purchase now and we just purchased a toddler tula. It distributes the weight differently and has more padding. Ask you friend to try hers on and make sure you get a good seat and that you completely adjust the PFA's because otherwise baby can lean and it will not be comfortable. A standard Kinderpack would be another great option (we have one of those too) as it is supposed to fit from about 8 months to 3 years. I like it alot. She's small for her age, so I got the regular one, but there is a extender for bigger toddlers. It's very easy to put on especially the front carry. </p>
