For what its worth, unlike cold type viruses, I'm pretty sure you can typically get reinfected with a norovirus type GI bug. So maybe she's gotten it twice now?
so sorry for all of you- it sounds tough.

Our family had the tummy bug right after Christmas. My 5yo threw up Thurs night, then not again until Sat morning and then again Sat night. So it lasted @ 48 hours, but was weirdly sporadic.

@Ajsmommy: Unfortunately we only figured it out when we took her to the ER. They did an xray and confirmed she was super backed up. So sad! The peds never guessed but then again not sure how to "test" this without the kid knowing what that feels like...

@gotkimchi: thanks for this... I am NOT a puker like i'll do almost anything to avoid it but she just lets loose and feels fine afterwards sometimes.. so odd to me!
@LBee: thanks.. I am going to keep her home with me again tomorrow and unless she takes a turn for the worse (ie fever, more intense vomiting) then i'll probably just ride it out.
@Mrs. Pajamas: this is something I worry about bc she is a holder... however up until the sickness she's been on a roll of going every day and not holding sooo I am hopeful this isn't the issue!! when/how did you finally determine it was constipation ??

I dealt with what I thought was an 8 day stomach bug but was actually extreme constipation following a normal 24 hour stomach bug. So just a PSA to make sure your LO is pooping normally since it's so easy to get dehydrated/not eat enough fibrous food when they're sick. DD1 was so backed up that we had to take her to the ER...it was not fun for anyone and I felt awful for missing the signs...though in my defense I took her to the ped twice in that 8 days and they couldn't figure it out either!

We've had two scenarios.

We've had one where it was just a tummy bug Sunday through Thursday. So 5 days. We had another where he had a bacterial infection. If you are willing to stay out of work with her, I personally would just keep an eye on it and only take her in when it's been 7 days (what our ped recommended). They don't do anything to stop puking / diarrhea and even the treatment for the bacterial infection was not recommended (oddly it's so harsh on the stomach it can cause vomiting / diarrhea which seemed pointless).

You know I have one puker and I’m was a puker as well so i would say wait it out if she seems fine other then the puking. If she is lethargic and really under the weather I’d have her seen. As I got older I literally had to teach myself not to puke and like talk myself out of it - also I do think it really depends on food too - like if my younger seems fine and on the mend but has dairy he’lol vomit but then be fine

HB I need some insight....

DD is 5 yo. She is a puker, meaning she gets car sickness (fairly often) and if she gets any kind of illness it generally involves throwing up.

On Friday she was fine, in preschool all day. Saturday morning she woke up fine but by breakfast she was saying she didn't feel well, she didn't eat much. We went to get groceries, and she threw up on the way but was fine after.

All day Saturday she was okish, didn't eat much, but I took her to get her hair cut and she was fine. Later in the day she threw up once. She was tired and went to bed early. Sunday morning at 4 am she woke up puking. She threw up 4-5 times between 4 am and 7 am. She was down and out all day sunday, didn't eat anything, napped. By evening she was a little pepped up and she took a bath and went to bed. I kept her home yesterday and she was pretty ok, no throw up but still didn't want to eat much.

She ate a bagel w cream cheese at lunch time and kept it down and some mashed potatoes and kept them down.

Then in the evening like 6 pm she was begging for milk.. so I gave her a some. She was still ok but said not feeling great....

Went to bed, slept all night, woke up with sick tummy but she's thirsty and hungry but wont' eat crackers or toast or soup... so we gave her water and a little applesause.... she kept those down...

later dh gave her toast with egg, she ate it and then threw up again.....

So we have throw up Sat, Sun, Tues.. is this just a lingering tummy bug?

No fever

Should we just keep riding it out or do I need to have her seen??
