Mine did that when she was really young--scared me to death! She was fine though, and able to roll herself to her back and then back to her tummy, so I let her be. She also used to sleep with her head pressed up against the side of the crib, and I would always think to myself, 'there is NO way that's comfortable!' She's now nearly 14 months and sleeps in all kinds of crazy positions. It's fine, but I know it won't make you worry any less for at least a little while. If you're SUPER freaked out by it, get an AngelCare monitor for her crib, and rest easy.

Yes - she's 5 months and has been doing this for a couple of weeks now. At first I kept turning her over but she kept turning back and I couldn't just stand in front of her crib all night. I feel as long as her nose isn't covered or blocked, she's getting enough air - sometimes I'll just turn her head slightly or move her arm from on top of her face. It still freaks me out though. But I guess she's just more comfy this way - I know I am.

It's scary but he's starting to grow up!

Yep LO does the same thing. I figure it is the same as when he's nursing - he breathes out the size of his nostrils.

L started doing that last week. It freaked DH out the first night, and now it does me too sometimes but then i remind myself that most babies do it and he is 6 months, so risk of SIDS is low. I also stare closely at the monitor to make sure i can always see his back moving to demonstrate he is breathing

My LO just started sleeping on her tummy (she rolled into that position). Yesterday she had her head turned to the side and it didn't bother me too much. Tonight though, she's sleeping face down. It looks like her face is buried in the mattress, but it's hard to tell. I don't even know how she is breathing like that (but she is. I've checked... and checked again). I've moved her twice already because it's freaking me out... but at some point I have to sleep.

It's okay, right?!? Does your LO ever sleep like this (i.e., like they're trying to smother themself)? How did you not let it freak you out?

I do have a Snuza monitor but haven't put it on her since she started rolling around. So tempted to use it somehow!
