I second @mrs. bird: on the arm's reach cosleeper- we used my twin nephew's cosleeper (as a pnp) with my 9 month old over Thanksgiving- that thing is solid! We usually have a cheapie travel pnp at home, but for two I would definitely want that since it has more room for two.

@marionberry: I had mine in the same cradle for three months, then the same crib for 3 more months, then finally two cribs. Granted, DS was in a bouncer for about three weeks, but that was because he hated sleeping flat.

I'm not a twin mama but work with tons of twins... I would just do one crib for now! We co-bed our twins in the NICU and they do much better than when separated.

I had my twins in the same crib in our room until they were about 4 months old then moved them into their own cribs at that point since they were starting to move around more and I was worried they were going to smother each other. We did co sleep on occasion if one of them woke up and couldn't get back to sleep.
It's really cute tho at just over 2 I still find them asleep in the same bed once in a while.

I nannied for twins and they put them in one crib from the start. I'm sure one p&p will be fine for awhile. I think they started sleeping in different cribs around 5 months. Don't quote me on that though ; ) The family also had two swings and two things that were similar to the r&p but they didn't sleep through the night in them.

@marionberry: I remember stressing about all the logistics of sleeping, etc (and well, everything) and it really came down to their individual preferences and what worked best at that moment. It was a lot of trial & error. When we ultimately moved them to their cribs, they suprisingly did well, so there is hope...good luck!

@mrs. bird: We do have room for a crib in our room. I'll look into the co sleeper to see if the height adjustment is enough. Thanks for all your help!
@Caly: This is good to know! So many decisions to make. I remember having a hard transition from bed to crib for my ds. That might be a benefit of starting them there.

@marionberry: not trying to sell you on the arm's reach co sleeper, but if height is a concern, they make leg extension kits for higher beds. you can also just use it just like a PNP not attached to your bed. the bassinet weight limit is 30lbs which is why i suggested it. it's not easy to move around and it's not as portable if you wanted to use it for travel later on. do you have space to put a crib in your room for a bit?

For the first six months or so mine slept in separate sleepers similar to a rock n play. They didn't do well sleeping together since they moved around and would end up waking one another. Around the six month point, we put them in individual cribs (before that point, they hadn't done well sleeping in their cribs). From the beginning, ours always slept in their own room. I had been told by so many people that their twins were inseparable and couldn't sleep apart so I'm glad I had both options available.

@mrs. bird: Hmm this is good to know! Not sure that's a great option for the long term then. Jack was 6lbs 4 oz so the twins will be small but the two together should hit 15 lbs together quickly. The cosleeper isn't great for us because our bed is very high.

@marionberry: not sure if you mean specifically a graco PNP, but the elevated bassinet part has a weight limit of 15lbs, so divide that by two babies and unless they are very small, you outgrow it very early on. also when BFF tried that, because it isn't perfectly flat, they ended up rolling into each other before they were able to really roll on their own. the arm's reach co sleeper has a higher weight limit so that might be a good thing to look into

Twin mamas out there, I have a question for you:

I'm trying to plan for our sleeping arrangements once the twins get here - mainly a decision between individual rock n plays or one pack n play.

We started our first son in the pack n play but he didn't like it much and we ended up co-sleeping. In planning for the twins I've read that they often prefer sleeping together, so I'm leaning toward the pack n play (because it would allow for that and we already have it) but I'm curious if you used the rock n play instead? I'm not sure we could co-sleep with two in the bed this time, so I want to really think this through. I've also read of moms who stuck their babies in cribs from day 1 and we could do this, but I think it would be easier to do something in our room at first.

Please help me make this decision!! RnP, PnP or something else entirely? Thanks for your help!
