@WALLAROO: We should get together! Yes...I'm a member of EMOMS and have started making some friends through them. It's a great organization. Are you a member?

@meganmp: @twoofeverything: I'm also a twin mama in Seattle. Are you guys members of SFOM or EMOMS? We live in Seattle but moving to the Eastside this month. My b/g twins are 6 weeks. I haven't even thought about mommy and me classes yet but know I to try some meet ups.

@meganmp: @twoofeverything: to be honest I got over the embarrassment of having screaming children. And most moms are very sympathetic to the plight of the twin mom. When I took my three boys to music class all the other moms were in awe of me. They may have run around instead of sitting still and listening but they are good boys in general. There was one time where one of them was throwing a fit and we just left. Everyone understood. Don't let that fear stop you from doing something you want to do with your kids.

@meganmp: Just saw your introduction! I remember reading your posts on WB. Welcome! It sounds like our twins are only about a week apart :-) Honestly, I totally agree about the fear of two screamig babies at those classes. I'm scared to take them to the library by myself...why pay $$ for the torture?!?! On the other hand, I don't want them to miss out. Maybe we'll look toward doing something on the weekends when DH is home and I'm not outnumbered.

Hey, I'm in Seattle too! My twins are 14 weeks, and I haven't done a class of any sort. To be honest, I'm kind of scared to do it. All of those other moms have only one screaming kiddo to deal with, and that is hard, how am I supposed to do it with two?!?! At home, at least I'm not mortified by the screaming...

Mine aren't the same age, but I have two that I try to do stuff with during the day. I just signed up at a "My Gym" for a class that allows me to take care of both kids. So maybe something like that?

And that is CRAZY that places would turn someone away because of twins...

The only class I was able to go to was a "music together" class? The teacher would help with one while I held two. I got turned away from a lot because they had a one on one ratio but if you are persistent you can find one.

I'm not a twin mama, but there are twin 12 week olds in my mommy and me class.
In our class, the babies are in a blanket on the floor if awake and stroller if awake.
Usually one twin is awake, the other asleep. if both awake, they go on blanket next to each other.

@twoofeverything: We are in oly! Small world. Yes, it is so gray lately. I am so looking forward to spring and summer and being outside more. The kids are good - it really does get so much easier as they get older and older. Though my son just started crawling, so its a whole new type of exhaustion lately, lol!

Yes! There's an amazing MOMs group that I recently joined. We're working on organizing a couple of play dates, so that will be great. At this point, it's more about getting them out of the house...we do run errands and go for walks when the weather is nice, but somehow I feel like we should be doing more? I dunno. I think I just need Spring to get here!

our nanny takes our twins to music class every week. we started this at around 8 months when their nap schedules were firmly synched up and they had good motor skills. but like merryc said, a lot of classes will only allow one lap child per adult. i wouldn't worry too much about classes just yet. is there a moms of multiples club in your area? it's a great way to meet other twin moms. our local chapter organizes a lot of outings for the moms and/or kids every month.

@MerryC: Thanks! We are in the Seattle area, and it has been pouring rain for what seems like FOREVER. I'm not too picky about where we go, but I'm dying to get them out of the house! I will have to try the aquarium :-) How are your 7-month-olds doing?

I haven't done them, tbh. Some of the classes and even library storytime here have notes that say 'one child per adult lap'. We get out of the house daily doing other things like running errands or going for walks around town. I plan on getting a membership to the children's museum in the spring, and we already have one to the aquarium. We do swim activities on the weekend when dad or other one kid families with extra hands are available. In short, I never had my heart set on classes specifically, so I've just found other ways to get out and socialize us all that are easier to manage at a 1:2 ratio. If you want to do a class, I would recommend waiting until they are both sitting confidently, or do one where you can bring a stroller. And congrats on your twins! (And for reference, mine are 7 months)

Our LO's are only 13 weeks, so I'm nowhere near ready to expose them to any of those germs quite yet. But I'm wondering...when we are ready...how do you other twin mamas handle Mommy and Me-type classes? I'm a SAHM and go it alone during the week :-)
