Thanks!

@Thehistoryofus: honestly, I can't quite remember how we decided! Certain details are hazy from their birth day since I had a c-section, but I think we looked at them for a while and decided which one felt like which name, lol. We think they still fit them, so we must have chosen well!

@sunshineandsushi: sorry about your DH :( it's crazy how they can be so stubborn about things like that. my dh was too and it was hard. We ended up changing his name when he was a week old hahaha.

I like them both. Don't worry about them not matching. I think it's a little too cutesy when people do that.

@sunshineandsushi: i agree with you and @MamaMoose, i'm all about "proper" full names, rather than nicknames. like i like michael better than mike as a legal name.

dallas and theo are cute. hehe i actually like the name austin. we have bg twins so they don't match but actually, they're both old testament names so i guess they match in that sense.

@sunshineandsushi: I LOVE Theo! DH's name is Theodore (he goes by Ted professionally, but I call him Theo when we're alone). I also really like Dallas! Theo and Dallas are way better than Dallas and Austin! The only thing I would worry about is when they're old enough to ask why you named them that, your DH will have all these elaborate reasons for naming one Dallas (he's had it picked for years, he loves the Cowboys, etc.) and when Theo asks all you'll be able to say is that you just liked the name. I know how competitive twins can be, so it's just something to think about. That being said, I really like the names!!

@Mrs. Jacks: oh I agree. That's my whole hesitation with Dallas. DH is just soo stubborn. I just can't shake him from Dallas. I guess I'm lucky he's not insisting on Dallas and Austin! We love the name Sam, but since that's our dog's name, it kind of takes it out of the running. ;)

I like Theo/Theodore a lot! Dallas, to me, seems very different. I do think it would be a fabulous nickname. I think I would try to balance Theo with something in the same era/gravity. I could throw out a bunch of options, but just to give you an idea of the era or feel, I was thinking of names like Elliot, Samuel (Sam), Nathaniel (Nate), Elias (Eli)...

Nathaniel Dallas or Samuel Dallas are both super cute :)

I must be the odd one out - I do think it's strange when a family has names with very different styles, and I definitely think Dallas and Theodore used together fall in that camp (one very modern/unisex and one very traditional/old fashioned). But the most important thing is that you love both names, and if you do then go for it! I love the name Theodore so much, but since we named DD Eleanor, we'd look like crazy Roosevelt fans if we ever used Theodore. :)

My twins dont have matching names. They are both named after family members that we wanted to honor so they are similar in that regard. They are Nicholas and Joseph. They go by Nick and Joe. People asked me all the time while I was pregnant if their names were going to match or rhyme or start with the same letter. I just ignored it and picked the names we wanted.

I was born and raised in Dallas so I don't think I can give an unbiased opinion on that one, but I like Theo! I think Theo and Dallas go better together than Theodore (seems way more serious and proper) and Dallas. I don't think twin names have to match, but if it were me, I would probably choose something a little more similar in style, like sticking with Theo as the given name.

DH and I decided that we wouldn't be deciding for sure and announcing our boys' names until they're born. One, we want to make sure we still like the names when they're here and two, we didn't want unsolicited opinions on the names we chose!

Well, one name has always been a little known because DH has had it picked out for years. He is such a huge Cowboys fan that he has had this dream of naming a boy Dallas (I've unsuccessfully tried to get him to agree to that as a middle name ;).

Another name that has stuck with us is Theodore, with Theo for short.

Dallas and Theo. What do you think of these names together? We don't want them to be matchy-matchy since they're twins, but I'm wondering if they're too un-matchy! And I don't want to ask family or friends, since we're keeping the names a secret!
