@pachamama: @Kemma: @ALV91711: @Petitduck: thanks ladies. I’ll stick with just putting her down in her crib for naps since she’s doing well there and not crying.

She won’t sleep in the pnp in our room. I’ve been bringing her to bed with me- not ideal but i need sleep with a toddler and to just function. I am not sleep training at this time so i’ll just try at night and if she crying she can come back in the room with us- thanks

@pachamama: yup, sounds like very normal newborn behaviour and LOTS of babies need more support to sleep at different times of the day. I’ll also put it out there that she’s way too small to be left crying because she literally doesn’t have the skills to settle herself. She may also be trying to tank up in the evening and need a bit of extra nursing before she’s ready to settle for the night.

2 months I think is still kind of go with the flow, survival mode and try to start establishing some good habits and routine.

Do you put her in a bassinet in your room in the middle of the night? If she is sleeping decent there that is what I’d stick to for now. When she’s a bit older and you are ready to sleep train us when I’d worry about getting her to sleep in her crib.

@cake2017: ugh. Hb ate my post. I was coming back to comment on wake times, but see you’re on it.

I think it’s like pachamama says, set up good sleep habits and your baby sounds like they’re doing great so far. And, even if babies aren’t overtired they’re just cranky in the evening (as you likely already know) and they’re tired from the long day and the short naps. So it’s all normal and unfortunately, frustratingly, nothing easy to fix I feel.

@cake2017: I was coming back to comment asking about the wake time between last nap and bedtime, but I see you’re on it.

I think it’s like pachamama says above. Your baby sounds like they’re doing pretty well so far. Also, babies usually just get crankier in the evening (as you likely know) and even if they’re not over tired, they’re still just tired from the long day of being awake and short naps.

Two months is very young to be worrying about sleep patterns. I think the most you can do is try to get her to occasionally fall asleep on her own. Sleep training really shouldn't start until 6 months or so. Just work on laying the foundation. Both my boys were "terrible sleepers" til about 6 months-- but developmentally it was all normal.

My kid does the same except for being upset in the evening. 9 weeks old. My guess would be maybe overtired? The day time sleep habits sound great so far and that kind of napping solo is pretty good and appropriate for this age I feel. Especially if unswaddled and without a pacifier

I’m not looking at sleep training until 14 weeks because that’s what a sleep consultant told me in the past and that’s when I waited to with my second. If it was me, and what I do with my kid, is just leave them for a few minutes and if they get too upset and awake and can’t settle themselves then I pick them up and bounce them to sleep or try to nurse, whatever seems appropriate at the time.

Currently I don’t nurse to sleep, but not because I don’t want to, because my baby throws up if I do. Anyway, I also feed baby in motn feedings, then hold for 15 minutes and put in crib beside my bed and after the second waking there is usually only 2 hours of sleep and then I hold them in bed until the morning when my other kids get up, which is for about 1.5-2.5 hours. I have done that with all my kids though.

My 2 month old will nap(approximately 30-45mins) in her room in the crib when we are home. She will fuss for a few minutes but will fall asleep on her own.

However, at night she just cries. I do the same thing but may add a bath in the evening and nurse longer. She cries and doesn’t settle until 30 mins or so.

What may be the reason for this?
Should I let her cry or just get her?

I get her and nurse each time after she sleeps for a couple of hours.

I also bring her in our room if she doesn’t settle after her first middle of the night feeding.

Any suggestions?
