When I interview teaching candidates, most resumes are 1 page...industry standard. Like previous posts, I'm not really interested in non teaching experience unless maybe it would help with classroom--experience with kids.

@Corduroy: Honestly, I'd tell her to get it down to one-page as she is a recent college graduate and the 2-page resume is going to be frowned upon by employers. I just had to sit down with one of my interns and help her get her resume down (but she is in grad school and was a teacher for 3 years, so this isn't for her first job).

Less white space! I condensed mine to one page.. No one wants to read more than one.

I agree. Mine is two now, but I've been teaching for nearly 10 years. No one will care about any non-teaching related experience or anything pre-college if that will help her.

@Corduroy: yup. 1 page is better. If this is her first teaching job, she really doesn't need ALL her previous experience in college-type jobs on there (like waiting tables at 3 restaurants, working retails at 2 different mall stores, etc.)

And less white space.

@Corduroy: gah, I'd tell her to cut it to one page. No one wants to look at a two page resume for an entry level position.

My SIL is trying to get her first job out of college as a teacher and she showed me her resume. The content is fine but I was surprised that it's two pages with lots of white space. Is that typical for a teacher resume?

I interview candidates in my field a fair amount and we give huge eye rolls to multiple page resumes for entry-level positions.

I should mind my own business and probably won't say anything either way. Just curious.
