@Mrs. Pen: Poor guy! I don't know how great they really work for R. I try and do those during the day and save the Motrin for at night.

Motrin is 100% better for teething then Tylenol.

Did you try Hylands teething tablets?

@Mrs. Pen: He's just 19 months. He was an early teether though - had all his other teeth by 14 or 15 months.

Anyone find bananas or yogurt help a little because they're cold?

I hope J feels better! Popsicls are great. One summer I made yogurt pops for Chloe. She could eat them for bfast and thought she was so awesome haha! I got the molds from IKEA.

@Mrs. Pen: molars were definitely the worst and hardest for us, and Chloe had 8 teeth come in at once two summers ago!

Popsicles, ibuprofen (Tylenol didn't touch the pain for her), and I'd do a teeny, tiny dab of orajel.

Aaah. I think we're getting them early. B has brought home another horrible day care cold, he's drooling everywhere, and yesterday he started chewing on my finger. Fun times. And I think they're THE cause of the terrible two's over here :( He was working on his other molars for three months - I hope these break through a little faster!

@Rubies: 3-4 days! Gah it feels so long. We're at the start of day 3. I read online (super reliable, obviously ;) ) that it's usually just 1-2 days. yeah, I wish.

@rachiecakes: I can't even see in his mouth - so I have no idea if it's all four, just up or just down. Thankfully fever is gone this morning. But even when drinking juice today, he said his mouth hurt :( I don't think your J is late though - he's only two months older than my J, right?

@sandy: @lawbee11: thanks - I will pick up some motrin to give him tonight before bed. Last night was TERRIBLE. Even after giving him two doses of tylenol. He was up every half hour and then continually from 12-1:30 am until we finally plopped him in our bed and he slept until 6:30. Definitely not the 12 hours he needed though - esp. considering he didn't nap at all yesterday. Here's hoping we're on the tail end of this.

When D1 got her molars she was in pain with fever but after children's advil, she was back to her normal self it completely until it wore off. This lasted 3-4 days...Plus a bit of loose bowel movements. But, after the 3-4 days, the teeth cut through the gums (ouch!) and then it was all good!

J's getting all four of his 2yr molars now (a little late?). Two are half up and two (uppers) are just about to come through. He's been so whiney, sleep is crazy. Fortunately no fevers.
Hope your little guy feels better ASAP! xo

@Mrs. Pen: maybe get some Motrin bc it's supposed to last longer so it will give them longer pain relief through the night. We only gave Tylenol but our pediatrician said to try Motrin for her 2 year molars.

@sandy: right now his fever is steady low grade, 99.1 the last I checked. J was the same as your little girl- no teething issues ever! Until now. Poor kid is in so much pain!! I just have him some Tylenol and within 5 minutes he was calm and fell right to sleep. Here's hoping he makes it until morning. This is one sleep deprived child.

@lovehoneybee: these teeth are killers!

@Mrs. Pen: poor baby! My LO never had teething issues until the 2 year molars - they take awhile to break through bc the tooth itself has a lot of surface area. We did Motrin and that seemed to help. Right around the same time as her molars she got some kind of infection (they suspected ear infection) bc the fever just kept coming back and she would get a little better then really lethargic again. A round of antibiotics got her right back on track. Hopefully it's just teeth for J but maybe keep an eye on him if the fever keeps bouncing back

Oh, poor baby, I hope that cut through ASAP! I can definitely empathize--E's at least top ones are cutting right now. We didn't even realize because of the hidden double ear infection that spiked his fever high enough to warrant an ER visit last week. When it rains...

I'm just giving him Motrin or Tylenol now. Between the teeth and the ears...

I will just start off with a sad face right now. :(
A fever of 102 popped up out of nowhere last night and J was terribly lethargic. He didn't sleep last night- up every half hour and up for the day at 5:45am whereas he normally sleeps past 8am. Didn't nap at all today, fell asleep in my arms while I was reading to him (never happens) and now it's 9:20 and he is awake again. This poor child :( he said his mouth hurts earlier today which is what led us to figure out his molars are popping through. I don't even know what to do for him! Any teething pain remedies??
