@Clementine12: Thanks, I’ll keep talking to her about it and hopefully it clicks. She understands and can verbalize a fair amount.

@LemonJack: I think we went through this earlier this month! It took a week of our normal routine not working (resulting in on and off crying for at least 30 minutes) before we gave in and changed up our routine. I added a few minutes of cuddling in the dark room while she asks about every person she can think of then she'll go right down. I think it was partly because I'm pregnant and she senses change coming. Luckily DD can be reasoned with so she understands "a few more minutes and then it will be time to go lay down in your crib".

Good luck! Regressions feel like they take forever but i hope your little one finds new equilibrium soon.

@pachamama: I’m pregnant and expecting in November, but so far she’s still in her room and crib, so no major changes there. I’m also home for the summer, and she’s been fighting the nap on and off since summer started. I think she just wants to spend all her time with me. She’s gone through some refusal phases at daycare too, but those have been short lived. This isn’t! 😂

I’m sorry you’re going through something similar with your 3.5 year old, but it’s also reassuring to hear I’m not alone! Drawing out the routine might help her and is worth a try. We’re willing to try it all! Her screaming at night (even if we are IN her room) is keeping her sister awake and is obviously draining.

@LemonJack: yeah, she's going through something! a shorter nap and 11pm is rough. We are dealing with almost the same thing with my son but he's 3.5. We realized it was b/c my husband "moved out" of sleeping in son's bed bc we sleep trained our other son and husband could return to my room lol. This sent my 3.5 y/o kid into a bedtime shitshow tailspin. Is there something going on, like a change in work or baby on the way?
What about a Hatch light/clock thing to signal time to sleep?
I've seen people draw out the routine, like a picture of bath>> jammies>> brush teeth>> stories>> bed, and point to it and stick to it?
None of those would work for my kid but thought i'd throw them out there.

@cake2017: I know that 1 to 1.5 hours for a nap is normal, but it’s a drastic change from what she was doing even a couple of weeks ago. Our big concern is the refusal to go down at night. She was up until nearly 11 last night. This is definitely not her normal.

@LemonJack: Also, her naps seems average? LO sleeps the same or up to 2.5 hours.

I did notice shorter naps for my LO. He was almost 24 months at the time. I kept it consistent and if he had a short nap he went down to bed earlier. His normal bedtime is 630-7pm. So if it was a crappy nap(lasted for a week or so) bedtime was at 6pm.

I didn’t notice a change in bedtime. Time to time he will wake up crying but will lay back down and sleep until 6/630am. We don’t enter the room until after 6 if he’s quiet we wait longer.

Consistent is key and worked for me!

Has anybody dealt with the two year sleep regression? Our older daughter never went through it, but our younger daughter definitely is. She went through a brutal regression at 18 months too, so I shouldn’t be surprised.

Both naps and nighttime sleep are affected. Her naps were usually 2.5-3 hours, and are now about 1-1.5 hours max. That’s not the big issue though. GOING to sleep is a nightmare for both naps and bedtime. She wants us to rock her or hold her hand for every nap and nighttime, and will cry, scream, and carry on resisting sleep if we don’t do that. Even us sitting in the chair in her room doesn’t appease her. She wants us to sit next to her crib and touch her. Bedtime is a hour and a half ordeal. Once she’s asleep, she’s generally sleeping okay.

She just got her last molars in last week, so that’s not it. She does have a lot of changes going on - a huge verbal spurt, and she’s also showing a lot of interest in potty training.

If anyone else went through this, did anything help? How long did it last?
