Hey! My husband is a Type 1 diabetic. He was anxious about the chances of our children developing it, but his endocrinologist said that it's not hereditary. We conceived quickly and our daughter is almost seven weeks old. She had to have her blood sugar monitored in the hospital, but only because I had gestational diabetes.

@MrsScottish: My husband is not the best diabetic, 5-6 is amazing! He had an A1C of around 7 when we got pregnant. Our howl is under 7, how does your husband do it?!

My DH A1C has been really good, 5-6 over the last 3 years. He has always been in great control.
Thank you!! That is very encouraging. We talked about it last night again, and he got really bummed out over it. He said that we will give it a few months and then talk to his doc. He goes back to his endo. in March so if nothing by then he will talk to her. We have a few things stacked against us, so hearing this makes it a bit less daunting! Thank you!

@MrsScottish: My husband is type 1. The doctor told us that as long as he was "healthy" (A1C less than 8ish) that we should be fine. It took us about 4/5 months of actively trying to get pregnant. Good Luck!! (:

I have not - but my neighbour has type 1. They conceived 3 babies very quickly. Their doctor told them the same thing about the increased risk of having diabetes for the kids.

My dad has type 1 but got it after we were born. None of us have it so far!

Hope your TTC process is quick! :) Good luck.

Any bees SO have diabetes? Type 1 or 2??
My husband has type 1, has had it since he was 11. We just started TTC, and at his last endo appointment he asked his doc about TTC and if there is anything he needs to do, and the chances of children's to have diabetes. All she said was that instead of a 2% chance, our children would have a 5% chance of having type 1.
Dr. Google says that men with diabetes are more likely to have issues with sperm.
Curious if there are bees who have been through this and might have some insight.
Thanks!
