I've never had to worry about ticks. But fleas and sorts of worms I use revolution and profender. (neither kill ticks :( ) but I'd recommend the topical solutions like Advantage 2. It's way easier to apply then pills or anything else and they make it for kittens too.

Just make sure it's a cat product not a dog one. And don't bother with collars, they don't work will and I've heard way to many horror stories.

If you don't already you might also want to look at deworming your in/out cat occasionally too. We do it a couple times a month to all of our cats and dogs.

@Bao: thank you! That is what a friend recommended as well. Does it prevent ticks? I thought I read that it was just for fleas and ear mites.

@cheesetomywhine: Advantage 2 from Amazon is what we buy, it's the best price I've found and had the best reviews.

What type of flea and tick meds do you use for your cat? Where do you buy it? Our cat is an inside/outside cat. He got a lot of ticks on him this past fall. We are possibly getting a kitten (to be indoors only) and would need a brand for him or her as well.

Thank you!
